About
Running year-round, the Dubrovnik Cable Car has been taking travelers up to the top of Mount Srd since 1969. In just four short minutes, you'll reach the peak and be treated to breathtaking views of Dubrovnik, the Adriatic Sea and more. At the top, check out the fortress and dine with a view at Panorama Restaurant, exceptionally stunning at sunset.
For the best value, choose a tour that combines the cable car, Old Town walking tour and the Dubrovnik City Walls. Plan your visit during off-peak seasons for fewer crowds, or right when the cable car opens.

- Kawaii DThe Netherlands200 contributionsPricey for a nice viewThe view is very nice and up on the top is very refreshing. There are a few shops and a restaurant, but those are extreme expensive. The cable car itself is also quite pricey. There is a way to go up and down, but that will take some hours by foot and is quite dangerous by car. Speaking of car, there is a off road possibility up on the mountain in a squad.Visited July 2022Written 28 December 2022
- I WLeicestershire, United Kingdom290 contributionsFantastic viewThe cable car is expensive but the alternative is a long walk up a steep hill. The cable car is worth it if you're only in Dubrovnik for a few days. At the top, there is a restaurant (expensive), a fort with a museum about the war in the 1990s and 4x4 buggies. I would recommend going up early shortly after 9.00 to avoid the crowds.Visited October 2022Written 2 January 2023
- Hayley ODartford, United Kingdom154 contributionsAmazing views of Dubrovnik Old TownThe cost of the cable car was fairly pricey however it's a lovely way to see Dubrovnik. There is a restaurant at the top which gets booked up really quickly in high season so if you are planning on eating making a reservation in advance. We were able to get a table for drinks and it was a nice way to spend an hour.Visited September 2022Written 7 February 2023
- GemsNIArmagh, United Kingdom624 contributionsViews!Although expensive, this short cable car trip takes you to the top of the mountain overlooking Dubrovnik and the views are stunning. Take a short walk around to take in the scenery, mountains on one side, coast and islands on the other. Gorgeous. There is a restaurant which in high season can be difficult to get into, so book ahead if you want to. Toilets available too. There are also dirt buggies on the top, which you can hire, to go on off track trails. You can choose to walk down from the top, there is a marked path if you are feeling fit.Visited March 2023Written 1 April 2023
- Laura BNottingham, United Kingdom15 contributionsGreat views, short rideWe enjoyed the cable car ride up to the top of the hill, great views, we visited the war museum which was ok, difficult to read all the information boards but it did convey the essence of what happened. We had lunch in the restaurant at the top. The cable car is €27 return for an adult. I think it’s a little overpriced for the 2min trip. Another person recommended doing a tour for about €20 which takes you to a spot slightly down from the top of the cable car so you can take photos without the mechanics on the way. But the kids fancied the cable car so it was part of the adventure!Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 April 2023
- PUPforever8 contributionsGreat views and price good xGreat views of Dubrovnik, we paid to go one way and walked back, beware though good footwear recommended as the pathway down is not great. A must though even if you get a return. a bonus find was the pizza place at the bottom of the steps up to the cable car, best pizza in Dubrovnik and reasonably priced xVisited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 April 2023
- Kerri Rays TravelsLeamington Spa, United Kingdom46 contributionsGreat view but costlyThe view is simply stunning and a must see for all visitors to Dubrovnik. I would have given 5 stars if it was not for the price - 15 Euros 1 way and 27 return. It takes not much longer that a minute to go up so not sure why others say it is longer? We walked down and that took 1.5hrs via the road route.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 April 2023
- DaveBAmershamLittle Chalfont, United Kingdom887 contributionsVery Expensive…….Very costly five minute trip. Trouble is there is no other way of getting to the top of the large hill to see the entire town of Dubrovnik and the photo opportunities from this vantage point. Interesting speaking to a Croatian living in the area who said the venture was very well funded locally and there is no reason to charge such a exorbitant fee for the service. As it was my trip for three years due to COVID I paid for the trip up and down. I have been on such forms of transportation in places such as Tenerife, New Zealand and Madeira with the pricing at a more reasonable level.Dear DaveBAmersham, Thank you for your comment. Dubrovnik Cable Car is a privately owned company that pays a 15% concession fee to the City of Dubrovnik and a 25% tax to the State from its business operations, and actually the company's work co-finances the local community. We believe that we provide the best value for money and that our prices are set accordingly, however, we are aware that not everybody will share our opinion. Thank you for sharing your experience and best regards, Dubrovnik Cable CarWritten 9 May 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 May 2023

Lovely views from the top with a restaurant and bar too. High prices due to the location but beautifulVisited May 2023Written 12 May 2023
- Ian M17 contributionsFantastic views on a clear dayAmazing views from the top. Massive queues on the day we went but moved along quickly and we were on in 30 minutes. Make sure you go on a good day or you won't be able to see much. Also buy your ticket at the shop in the tunnel on the way from the old city. Buying at the kiosk at the cable car is €3 more expensive. It's not cheap at €27 each anyway and there's not much to do up there bar the views so we were only up for 40 minutesVisited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 May 2023

So simple, and provides the absolute best views of Dubrovnik. Great restaurant to have lunch or dinner at the top also. Very easy to find and ride. You get more views of the surrounding area as well as the beautiful city. If in Dubrovnik this should be added to your list of things to do.

The ride is fast, and the price is a bit high, but the views are incredible, and there is a nice restaurant at the top if you want to relax.
I also highly recommend the fortress museum, which was a key location in defense of Dubrovnik during the Croation War of Independence.

We wanted to see Old Town from up high so thought this would be perfect.
They squash about 30 people in at a time do you don’t all get a view on the way up. The ride is fast, so you don’t get to enjoy that either.
For the price it was €27 return for adult, is rather costly in all honesty. The view from the top is great, but it’s just obviously. We did enjoy a nice drink and snack at the panorama bar, which was lovely. They offer you a blanket too as it’s chillier and windier up top. Which stein is a nice touch.

We enjoyed this trip as part of a tour. The weather was beautiful. When you get to the top, the view is hampered by the cable car wires. There is a walking trail that lets you see The old town unobstructed. The cafe and shop are a rip off. €6.50 for a small coke from the restaurant and €4 from the shop.

Offers second-to-none views of Dubrovnik and the Panorama restaurant offers incredible food. Pricey at €27 for a round trip for adults but well worth it for the views if you’re only in the city once!

Glad we did this but was very expensive for what was at the top! The view was amazing but wasn’t worth the money. €23 each for a short walk and a cafe

1st tip buy your tickets at the cable car base as the official ticket shops charge a €2 fee and at €27 each it’s not cheap! Try to get there early as it gets quite busy. We spent about an hour taking in the views and wandering around. If you intend to eat at the restaurant take plenty of money.

Fun cable car ride leading to stunning views of the City Walls, Lokrum Island and surrounding area. We were advised not to do this activity but glad we did.

On our “must do” list when we visited the Old Town”, it is expensive for such a short ride, but the view is stunning and it’s the only option if you do not feel fit enough to walk up along the footpath

Hello, do we have to book tickets in August at sunset time? And how long to wait?
Michael F
Coventry, UK148 contributions
Their website says that it closes at 10pm, and the last departure is 30 mins before closing. Therefore you would want to be travelling up well before the last departure down at 9.30pm. There is a rather long windy path from the top of the cable car station down to the town, but be wary how dark it would be .

If you purchase a Round Trip ticket, do you need to stay on the car and go straight down (without stopping at the top)?
I'm looking to ride the cable car up, have dinner, then come back down via cable car and I'm unsure which ticket I should try to purchase.

You can stay up at the scenic point as long as you want. The cable cars run all day. I can’t remember what time they shut down, though

How long do you have to wait in line when it’s close to sunset?

Cable car is going every few minutes, ride is 2min long i think, we got there 1h before sunset and there was no line to wait.
There is restaurant up there, you can reserve your seat few days before and nobody can take your sunset away :) dinning tables are best to watch sunset with a glass of wine :)

Hello!
How far is the cable car from the cruise ship pls?
Is it super cold in the middle of October?
How soon in advance does one need to make reservations at the restaurant?
We will be celebrating our 30th, so wanting to make it special!
Thx for y’all’s time & input!

Don’t think it’s that far from the cruise ships, I would book the restaurant well in advance as it gets busy. I would also recommend requesting a table at the front so you get the views. Timing your booking to catch the sunset during your meal is well with it. If you they’ll them it’s for a celebration you also get a glass of fizz on arrival

I bought a ticket online in August, and it was valid until the end of that month. It should say on the ticket, ours did. Hope this helps.

It is okay to go here in early january?
Adrian T
Silchester, UK204 contributions
The average temperature in January is 11 degrees centigrade with a 20% chance of rain which is still quite warm. I think all of the attractions are open all year round. The cable car is closed only when it is too windy.

Is it suitable for pregnant women?
John F
Mansfield, UK34 contributions
The queues for going both up and down (only 2 cable cars with around 25 passengers on each trip) could be the worst part of it.
