Info at In Your Pocket is a good summary. Museum website is Flash-enabled - doesn't appear to have any English pagesWe visited August 2009.Fascinating museum. 10 kn admission included an excellent guided tour, our guide spoke good English. Picked up a lot of Croatian history during our visit. Torpedo display particularly interesting - torpedoes were invented by a UK-Italian partnership in Rijeka (Google Whitehead-Luppis). Strongly recommended.

Although not huge, this has to be one of the best museums in the area. Many of the exhibits have an English translation and there’s loads of interesting things to look at. Outside, there are several boats and weapons to look at as well and...More

Having read some negative reviews I didn't have high hopes for this museum but thought it was still worth a look. Set in an old fort, it's quite easy to think (when walking there) you are heading in the wrong direction as you pass residential...More

One of the best museums in town and definitely one of the best to visit. My favorite exhibit are all the lanterns used on different boats.

Not easy to find. 15 minutes walking from the big Mestrovic statue north of the Diocletian Palace. Go east from the statue and start walking up Drziceva, then look for the steps on the opposite side of the road from the side of Tommy supermarket....More

Having read the positive reviews, we thought this would be an interesting visit. The fortress itself is crumbling and not maintained. Indeed, there is a sign saying "Enter at your own risk". Despite a notice on the door to the museum saying it was open...More

For a lover of maritime histor, not to be missed! Located in the Gripe fortress which offers a unique view on the town of Split, it has a fine collection of vessels and other maritime artifacts

A very quiet day, plenty to see and a wide selection on display. Not much translated to English but you could pay more for that. The boat outside that can be climbed on would satisfy kids (and two 25 year olds). 15kuna a suitable price...More

This is a must for anyone interested in maritime development but if, like us, you are only mildly interested it can still be rewarding. The museum has two parts. Rooms 2 to 5 are naval history mostly from about 1900 onwards culminating in a room...More
