Looking down from the bell tower, you can see this pentagonal tower in Fruits square.
It seems to be an old part of the fortifications that I couldn't figure out how to enter. Its still a good photo opportunity of a nice old building.

This central tower somehow conjures up images of knights and fair damsels. Only these two towers - central and east - are left of the 15th-century Venetian Castle. Located in the Radić Brothers’ Square or Fruit Square (no hint of fruit there in the winter months).

This magnificent exclamation mark is - together with a smaller tower just east of it and a connecting wall - all what remains of a fortress built by the Venetians in the 1400's. It and its sister tower are today incorporated in modern dwellings.

Located next to Marco Marulic statue it may be the only remaking tower in the Dolmetcian Split City. It’s a formidable looking tower probably used as a lookout for encroaching enemies...

The tower was built by the Venetians in 1435 as a defensive fortress. It's part of the pretty Trg Brace Radic square.

Impressive structure. I don't think you can go inside or climb. I may be wrong but worth a look. Your likely to pass it anyway when walking in the old town.

As you can see from the photographs it is a very impressive tower or fortress. At the time of visiting didn't realise what the actual name was, as it seem to links in with several historical attractions in close proximity so you don't know when one stops and the other starts. All the same great fortress.

Split was ruled by Venice from 1420 until 1797. The Octagonal tower is all that remains of a castle built by the Venetians In 1435. Mletačka Kula is located in Braće Radić Square Fruit Square.

The Venetian Tower is on the southwest side of Trg Brace Radic (a.k.a., Square of the Radić Brothers or Fruit Square), about 70m north of central Riva Harbor, west of the Palace walls. The octagonal Venetian tower (castello) is the remains of a 15th century fortress with a "crown" of carved stone. Split was under the rule of the Republic of Venice from 1420 until 1797. In 1435, the Venetians built a castle near the shoreline outside of the southwestern wall of Diocletian’s Palace. The castle was integrated with a larger defense system with ramparts and five towers completed in 1441 as protection from Turkish raids, pirates, and local unrest. The walls and other towers were dismantled centuries later; the octagonal tower is all that remains. The tower faces Trg Brace Radic, a bustling square with historic landmarks, cafes, restaurants, ATMs and shops. The tower is lit at night, which adds to a romantic atmosphere. Although the Venetian Tower is not open to the public, the square is available at all times with no entry fee.
