Overview
More
Galerija Meštrović houses the masterpieces of Ivan Meštrović carved in marble, bronze and wood. The house was built based on Meštrović's design (1931 - 1939), and was intended to be his family summer residence, working studio and exhibition space. It is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden which, with its bronze sculptures and the view of the sea and of central Dalmatian islands makes a unique example of landscape architecture.

Worth the 20 minute walk from Riva - or take a cab. Have you ever been to the Rodin Museum in Paris? This is the Croatian equivalent. The artist is fantastic, the setting - his home - is perfect. Absolutely wonderful.

Arrived here with my not-terribly-arty wife and a hot and bothered 6-year old who decided in the taxi down that she had an earache. Paid the entry fee then walked out 2 minutes later as daughter had a meltdown. Slightly frustrating that they wouldn't refund...More

We knew nothing of Ivan Mešrović at all. We learned that Rodan thought he was the greatest sculptor of all time. And we learnt it in the most beautiful of surroundings. Mešrović is stunning - we have been on a high all day after this...More

The gallery was one of the first places we went to in Split. It's not a large facility but you might still want to set aside some time to stop and appreciate each piece. There are metal and stone sculptures on the grounds and inside....More

Really worth a visit as the Sculptures are fantastic. It would be worth reading up a little online before you go as there is not much information in the gallery. It is a nice cool oasis of calm from the hustle and bustle of Split....More

The gallery with works by a greatest Croatian sculptor is a must see - the one who exhibited even in such circles as Vienna Secession. And when there, visit nearby Kastelet too

Lovely building which used to be the residence of Ivan Mestrovic who is the sculptor who did the huge statue outside the Gold Gate. Well worth a visit!

Out of town and not easy to find but an absolute must for those who enjoy art and culture. The setting of the villa in which his major works are displayed is one of the finest museums we have visited. The scuptures are stunning. Don`t...More

Great spot just a bit away from downtown, so completely uncrowded. Amazing bronzes and plaster castings. And what a seaside view!

We took a taxi to the Mestrovic Gallery when we went there in may of 2016. It is a short ride from the Central area of Split. However, since it was a beautiful day, we took a pleasant 15 minute walk (slight downgrade... More
