Overview
More
Galerija Meštrović houses the masterpieces of Ivan Meštrović carved in marble, bronze and wood. The house was built based on Meštrović's design (1931 - 1939), and was intended to be his family summer residence, working studio and exhibition space. It is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden which, with its bronze sculptures and the view of the sea and of central Dalmatian islands makes a unique example of landscape architecture.

What a beautiful place! A place for the art lovers, nature lovers, etc. Spent about 2 hours just enjoying the views, the sculptures, and the beautiful space. Must see!

Although this is a 20-25 minute walk from central Split, this museum was well worth it. The museum is beautifully situated with lovely views. We enjoyed soaking in beautiful sculptures from a bench while soaking in the sun before exploring the interior. Around every corner...More

The galery/museum is in it self would need little more love and care. But the art is amazing. Mestrovic captures every detail of the human body in his sculptures and shows great emotions at the same time. Visiting this place was a recommendation from a...More

We enjoyed his work tremendously, both the sculptures in the garden and in the museum. Outstanding concept of the human body and understanding of suffering and joy, which comes out in every piece. Highly recommend.

We did not know anything about Mestrovic before visiting the gallery and a church down the street ( with his wood carvings) and were simply amazed by his sculptures. Also, it is a beautiful walk to the gallery along the sea shore and thru the...More

It's next to the big green hill, this is guy who made statues with the shine toe in center. Some very interesting sculptures, before entering on the right is huge one: one eye man.

We had never heard of Mestrovic before visiting Split. But we were very impressed with his sculptures. My two young children were very interested in learning more and spent a lot of time roaming around the large sculpted grounds drawing and taking everything in.

I think I had never heard of Ivan Mestrovic before preparing for the trip to Split. What a delight and surprise to discover a sculptor as powerful as Rodin! You will see his "Grigur Ninsky" just outside the north gate of Diocletian's palace. The Galerija...More

A 20+ minute walk from the palace, but the collection of Mestrovic's works makes a great impression. Marble, bronze, wood: he was versatile and prolific, and very talented. Admission to the gallery also gets you into the chapel down the road, with its large wood-panel...More

We took a taxi to the Mestrovic Gallery when we went there in may of 2016. It is a short ride from the Central area of Split. However, since it was a beautiful day, we took a pleasant 15 minute walk (slight downgrade... More
