Lovely building which used to be the residence of Ivan Mestrovic who is the sculptor who did the huge statue outside the Gold Gate. Well worth a visit!

Out of town and not easy to find but an absolute must for those who enjoy art and culture. The setting of the villa in which his major works are displayed is one of the finest museums we have visited. The scuptures are stunning. Don`t...More

Great spot just a bit away from downtown, so completely uncrowded. Amazing bronzes and plaster castings. And what a seaside view!

This was the home of Ivan Mestrovic, the foermost Croatian sculptor and was intended by him as a museum, with wonderful wood sculptures, bronzes, drawings, sculptures outside in the garden, and one of the most stunning views in Split of the Adriatic. Unique.

The location is wonderful and the exhibits are beautiful and beautifully displayed. The curators are really knowledgeable and Mestrovic's story is an interesting one. We went at 6pm so we had an hour before closing but it was enough and there weren't many people there....More

I absolutely loved this museum. The sculptures were amazing, the home was gorgeous, and the view was to die for. Take your time here. Look carefully at each piece. Watch the video playing upstairs and take in the magnitude of the amount of pieces this...More

Catch it before the coaches arrive and it is a peaceful haven from the bustle of the town centre. The sculptures are impressive and it's worth watching the informative video - e.g. to find about the Chicago Indians and other works. Disappointing café unfortunately.

Rodin liked his work, if you are a fan of modern sculpture, then after Rodin comes this artist. Did I go to split to see his stuff, no, but I do not go to Paris just to see Rodin, either. Outdoor sculpture is great setting,...More

Before researching Split, I was not familiar with Ivan Mestrovic. But seeing his sculptures and influence throughout Croatia, I was glad that I went to this museum. This was formerly his home and is now a museum housing many of his sculptures and art work....More

We walked to the gallery along the waterfront in Split, first the Riva and then a long stretch of seemingly abandoned public buildings covered in graffiti that stand in sharp contrast to the massive yachts parked along the quay. At the end of the harbor,...More

We took a taxi to the Mestrovic Gallery when we went there in may of 2016. It is a short ride from the Central area of Split. However, since it was a beautiful day, we took a pleasant 15 minute walk (slight downgrade... More
