Mestrovic was a student of Rodin and is one of the most celebrated artists of Croatia. Sculptures are stunning and beautifully displayed in the artist's summer home on the banks of the Adriatic just outside the town. The gardens and chapel display some of his biggest works and his wood carvings respectively. Don't miss the chapel where the wood panels,... More

If you are at all interested in Art, suggest a visit here. It is a little out of town - we took a taxi there ( which was quite pricy - taxis seem to be in Split) and then walked back, which suited our aging legs well. The entrance fee is reasonable. The house itself is lovely, nice to see... More

A great place to go to get away from the buzz of Diocletian's Palace. In a greener part of Split, quite a long walk! Get precise directions! Didn't see any children or tour groups. Spent a relaxed hour and a half in this villa and beautiful garden with sculptures both inside and outside. With sea view! Although a couple of... More

My husband and I walked to the Mestrovic Gallery and really enjoyed the exhibit, although part of the gallery was closed due to renovations. Mestrovic was an extremely talented sculpture and his work is very fine. We also visited the chapel which was down the road from the gallery. Both are very much worth the visit!

Overlooking the Adriatic, this gallery is a must-see. The gallery was under renovation and we could not view some works as they were covered. However, it was worth the experience. We walked down the street to a chapel which gave further insight to the genius of Mestrovic.

Amazing sculpture and historical information. Beautiful location by the Split waterfront. A wonderful place for a quiet and peaceful couple of hours.

We knew nothing about the artist before our visit but came away happy to have visited. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk from the western edge of the harbour area. Many sculptures and drawings including outside in the pleasant but slightly unkempt garden. Disappointing that the cafe wasn't open early afternoon. Not sure why. Perhaps not enough visitors to justify.

You don't need to be a patron of the arts to appreciate the fine works of Ivan Mestrovic. Clearly, he was a master sculptor whose works on a par with Rodin. My husband and I spent over 2 hours looking at the sculptures in the gallery as well as in the garden. We even ventured further down the road to... More

This museum is wonderful if you enjoy sculpture. Meštrović is an excellent artist. Very expressive works. I would warn any parent who don't want their children to see genitalia to beware. I will be back many times for inspiration! and the Kaštelet is worth a visit for the wood panels of Christ's life. Exquisite work. And the view from both... More

Mestrovic was a student of Rodin and it shows. The former villa with its scenic view of the Adriatic coast is a wonderful and peaceful location for the best collection of his art in the world.
