Freedom square is the main place for any kind of demonstrations, protests and probably concerts. Located in the very central part of the city, metro station University. One of the biggest central square in the Europe. Huge size!

Last time I came was January and quiet open space just a nice walk .but unfortunately they have opened up to traffic and car park not such a good place anymore .a shame

One of the locals told me this square is where they get together for special events. Christmas and other holidays they celebrate. She told me several years ago, they had 1.5 million people in the square. The population in 2015 was just under 1.5 M....More

This place, locally called "maidan" for "square" is one of the largest in Europe. it's host a lot of history of the former Ukrainian capital.

The military tent is a poignant reminder that men and women are defending their country with whatever equipment they can scrap together. It is a very moving experience when you realize that they are trying to keep their country free.

There is nothing there. Finally they took down the statue of Lenin. The square is the site of most of the cities celebrations and is next to another large park with many good restaurants. I recommend going to the near center for an ice cream...More
