That people destroy places of history by the need to write on walls is terrible. Some of these ruins in Antigua have unfortunately fallen prey to this. The arches, openings, fountain, and layers of exposed walls are beautiful to photograph. The catacombs are nothing.

So I have visited La Merced and I have visited Las Capuchinas but Santa Clara was simply mind blowing! They might have less information on site, but I loved to enjoy the ruins as they are: raw and beautiful. You walk in to a smaller...More

Convent of the Clarisas in the colonial times. Still in fair condition to see and imagine what it looked liked. There are many nun's secrets in this place. Discover them!

The entrance is fairly cheap and therefore the place is worth your visit. We found the place to have a poor conservation status, which is a shame, because the Convent itself is impressive.

A calm place to visit in a busy city. Beautiful and interesting to look around and good views of the surrounding city and countryside.

Walking through these ruins evoked images of a time gone by with stories to tell in each little nook and cranny. There were places that reminded me of ancient Roman structure with arches and domes soaring high above me. It truly was a solemn place.

These ruins may be the most expensive in Antigua but they are also arguably the best. We only shared with a bridal couple getting some wedding photos taken and to be honest they only added to the experience/ambience/interest of our photos. Well maintained, peaceful just...More

We were honored to attend a wedding in this magical setting. But if you dont have that chance, just take a tour of this awe-inspiring ruin in the center of La Antigua.

We stumbled across these ruins by accident while walking through Antigua. Initially we were wary about the entrance fee but once we paid we were glad we did. Very nice setting and the ruins have been well maintained and the mountains in the background provide...More
