This may be the type of attraction that suits either a catholic or someone interested in 1500's Latin American architecture? Either way, it is one of the most representative structures in Antigua.

Very few people visiting. You can bring your lunch and enjoy it in the magnificence and quietness of these ruins.

The new church and the adjoining museum for the local saint is not worth the trip, yet the ruins are fantastic. I always visit San Francisco first, grand and disheveled, with different things to see as they keep opening it up and refurbishing as needed,...More

A large accessible ruin with an active church. There is also a museum attached and the tomb of Saint Hermano Pedro. The people have a great devotion for this man, who built a hospital for the poor.

As most historical sites in Antigua, the church is largely on its own to make a case for one's visiting. Grounds are simple yet interesting.
