Very attractive central square. Talk to the vendors, they are interesting people who sometimes speak excellent English. You don't always have to buy. The fountain is very photogenic late in the day, with the sun making the water glow orange. Visit multiple times as it...More

The fountain is pretty, and it's a nice spot to sit, and chill. There are vendors everywhere, so if you're not interested in buying anything that day, be prepared to turn many people down, and to be continuously targeted.

Sit down on the park bench, watch the people and time go by. Practice your Spanish with the many people in the park. Many of the expats sit in the park helping lost tourists find their way.

You'll find that most places in Central America will take U.S. currency but you will most likely get a better conversion rate if you have the countries local currency ( Guatemala Quetzal)
