This little museum was a walk-to destination for us. It's in a residential section at a funky intersection. They have great parking if you drive. To be a small place, we had a long visit. The staff are very friendly and love talking about the baskets. They have basket making classes or you can do like we did... Just watch... More

This small museum devoted to explaining how these lightship baskets were and are made. Local basket maker was there to show all steps in the process. Exhibits carefully done.

A museum which is dedicated to the Nantucket basket. They had a charming 91 year old man actually making a basket when we visited. There is a short 20 minute film. The museum is small. Only $5 admission fee. Doesn't take very long to complete a visit. Friendly staff.

A small museum with a big passion for lightship baskets! Be sure to take at least a few minutes and visit this quaint spot. Admission is $5/person and well worth it!

Nantucket is known for it's baskets. One trip to the Lightship Basket Museum is all it takes to be totally amazed by the detail and workmanship that went into these baskets. One was as small as a thimble and the largest, a person could climb into it.

They have a wide array of goodies, some very inexpensive and some "fagettaboutit," works of arts. It is both a shop and a small historical museum and kind of an art gallery. Another Do Not Miss place on the island.

Small museum with interesting story of the Nantucket basket. We had only a short time to visit, but was worth the $5 admission.

The museum is a wonderful look into the history of Nantucket Lightship basket making. I have always been fascinated by the craft and learned a lot about the history and the weavers and some of the techniques. After going here, you'll never look at a basket in the same without appreciating the art of basket making. I love that the... More

This museum visit was well worth our time and effort. This type of basket-making is island related and has been done for years. Beautiful craft.
