Really nice beach. They have bathrooms and a little food stand which is nice if you're there all day. The Wave (shuttle) goes there too!

This beach is easily accessible by the local bus system. There is a snack bar, bathrooms and chair rental, so bring your suit or change of clothes if taking away trip to the island. This beach is on the opposite side of the island as...More

Great place to go for along beach walk in November. Hearing the waves and the seagulls is so calming. Enjoyed looking at the flock of plovers or sandpipers running for and back, running, stopping, flying away and coming back to find their food in the...More

We have been going to this beach in spring, summer, and fall over the past 20 years. It is on the Southern part of a Nantucket, directly on the Atlantic ocean. The sand dunes, wild grasses and wild roses surround you as you walk down...More

Finally found a way to drive out to the nude beach at Nantucket with our Jeep only to find that they don't allow vehicles any more. No signs, but most of the access point have been closed off. While we were there at least a...More

This is a beautiful beach on ACK. The waves are excellent. Get a body board and enjoy. They rent beach chairs here as well, which is convenient.

Great beach. Sand was super. Not rocky. Waves were so much fun to jump and play! Bathrooms, showers and a snack shack. Could walk the beach for awhile. By far my favorite beach in nantucket.

Like its name, great surf and highly recommend for older kids and good swimmers for the waves can be big and undertow strong but just amazing waves and ocean feeling.

This is a pretty beach. The problem is that it is really not that safe to swim in in my opinion. The water today there was very warm. Not as warm as Jetties but surprisingly close to it. If they didn't have lifeguards here I...More

Surfside is he classic Nantucket south shore beach. Easy to bike or drive to from town. The facilities are above and beyond any other beach on the South Shore, and only Jetties Beach next to the harbor can compare in this respect. The made-to order...More

No. And this is an isolated section of the island as far as stores and restaurants go.
How do you get to Surfside Beach in the offseason if you don't have a bike or car? I don't want to pay for a Taxi. The Wave bus only goes directly to the beach after June 22nd. We (My husband and 9-year old daughter) are visiting Cape Cod the week of the 8th-12th and staying in Truro on Cape Cod. We would like to spend a day on the beach in Nantucket. (Preferring the South side of Nantucket because of the larger waves. We love the waves. ) If we do go to Surfside, is the restaurant or places to buy food/drinks openthere for the season yet? Are the restrooms open year round? If none of these facilities are available, then I am thinking of just taking the bus directly to Madaket beach instead, which I hear is similar but just more remote?
