One of the ruins that forms so much of the history of the island. Now well preserved in mid-decay it will help provide context for the whole area.

Have a look around and a walk inside. Read the plaque outside that tells you all about the building. Employ your imagination to think about what life was like in those hard times. Another fascinating bit of NI history.

Visiting here makes you appreciate the terrible conditions that the convicts had to live and work under. I hope that we can learn something from all this, although I don't think we have.

Very noticeable historic ruins amongst the many restored buildings in Kingston. Historical information signage attached but more information available at Kingston Museums and Tag-Along tours. Well worth a look.

Located not far from Kingston pier. Good for photos, inside and out. Read the information board and try imagine taking yourself back in time, thinking what it would've been like. It was built in 1827, and during its operation as a mill the prisoners constantly sabotaged it, mainly because it was one of the worst places to "work". Convicts were... More

those wet steps don't look too safe. It might be a shell, but you can visualise it in use. Gee people must have been tiny back then

It is probably a more in tact ruin on Norfolk island near the others and also near the pier. You can walk inside and there are signs explaining what it is and the history of it. It is also photographic for those into photography.

We had a look into the ruin of this old Mill. You probably need a history book or guide to tell you more about it.

The Crankmill brought it home to me just how terrible the convicts lives were! Imagine having to push those wheels around to grind the grain! Needless to say, the mill frequently "broke down", giving the convicts some respite!
