This was our third visit to Norfolk island, and we have done this walk before. It is a relatively level walk (unusual for Norfolk Island) and you have the bonus of great views and viewing the nesting birds on the cliff edges - we come same time each year (late January/early February) and there are always a big fluffy chick... We really enjoyed our walk through the reserve early in the day. We didn't see any other people but did see lots of different birds and some beautiful scenery.

One Hundred Acres Reserve was one of the highlights of our trip to Norfolk. We are avid birdwatchers and photographers, and were blown away by the thousands upon thousands of Fairy/White Terns and White-capped Noddys nesting in the trees above. If you take the northern track down into the reserve, Noddys fly directly over your head (within a metre or... More

Having had the benefit of going on a nature tour with Margaret Christian early on in the week the walk down to Rocky Point was enhanced by the knowledge I had gained. I'd not got 10 metres when my daughter wanted me to stand in front of one of the magnificent Moreton Bay Fig trees for a photo when a... More

This is a beautiful place, especially for bird watchers, it's just that it pales in comparison to the other walks and views at Norfolk.

We entered the woods and began our walk not really knowing where it was going - it is about 1 km down a sloping path which led through old stands of native trees with many birds nesting in them. When we arrived at the ocean cliff we were fascinated by the sea birds flying by especially the red-tailed tropic bird.... More

The walk through the wood is fairly straight forward. The bird life is incredible with terns, black noddies and the red tailed tropic bird flying so close. Sometimes they just hover in front of you. If you look above we were lucky to see some of the birds nests and their young. Once you reach Rocky Point you are rewarded... More

Bit disappointed as before starting I had decided to do the shorter walk but when the driver told us we had no choice but to do the long walk because of buses on that day I have had strokes, have a total knee replacement and struggled all the way Thank goodness many fellow walkers offered assistance One of our party... Hundred Acres Reserve was first farmed during the Colonial Settlement and is named after "One Hundred Acre" farm established in the area during the second settlement. It contains the largest area of coastal pine and white oak left on the island. Lovely walks thru the pines and onto coastal viewing

This Reserve is well worth a visit. The walk is a little hilly in parts but not too arduous and the view from Rocky Point is well worth the effort. A good spot to see terns and the redtailed tropicbird. One of our favourite walks on the island.
