If you want to enjoy the full moon on the cheap, then you must be prepared, but if you have your own vehicle it is better, but if you are with a rental car you will hire a 4WD car at a price between $ 120-150 / day, you can get in dili Esilva and Rentlo. time climbing to see... More

Not being particularly fit, it was tough, but well worth the effort. I can appreciate the other reviews about climbing later in the morning, but the sunrise was amazing coming through the clouds that are below you. I am glad I did the sunrise trek. A few tips: * Get your snacks, alcohol and water supplies well before you hit... More

Everyone insists that you must hike Ramelau in the middle of the night and be there for sunrise. You miss so much and it was freezing at the top for those of us who were faster hikers. I would prefer to leave the guest house at 6 AM with some coffee and small sustenance in me, pack a lovely lunch,... More

As everyone says it will take a bit if effort to get here, but things that are worth it often do. The road from Dili covers all the scales - some parts good to some parts diabolical. The last 18kms are the worst for sure. You can stop at the Dare memorial and Maubisse on the way in. Make sure... More

Took the climb at 5am as previous comment and drove are car to the gate 15 min above the village. Sunrise halfway up and a beautiful view up there. The path is simple with some stairways and very easy climbing even though 2900 m is a tough altitude for an office rat. Took us three hours to the top and... More

We rented a car ($100 per day excluding the fuel and insurance) at rentlo just next to our hotel which is Timor Lodge. Motorbike is impossible. We passed by Maubisse and took some photos. From Maubisse, Mt. Ramelau can be seen depending on the weather. The road from Dili to Maubisse to Hati Builico is horrible, a lot of potholes.... More

Only one place to stay in the village. Advice is not to accept the first guide that comes along, talk to a few - they will show up once they know you are there, and the language skills and knowledge of the area seems to vary greatly. They will suggest climbing to arrive at sunrise. We left a little later,... More

We started our climb of Mt Ramelau at 5am and walked with just the light from the full moon. The sun rose when we were about half way up and we had magnificent views all the way to the top. The hike is a 10-15km return trip from Hato Builco. The path is steep in parts but not technical (no... More
