This is one of the oldest Ottoman era Masjids in Skopje, N.Macedonia, Located upon the hill above the Old Town. It was built in the year 1492 and the most significant part about this Masjid is that it has changed little since it was built. The original structure is still intact and no additions have been made through the years. Unlike other buildings in and around the city, the Mustafa Pasha Mosque did not suffer major damage from the 1963 earthquake.
The architecture of this Masjid is absolutely fascinating. Doesn't look like a typical Ottoman Masjid from outside, rather classic Balkan architecture and inside is very plain and simple with beautiful Islamic decor and pleasantly decorated interior ceiling.
The Masjid is surrounded by rose gardens in a very quiet neighborhood, and the atmosphere was very calm and peaceful, when we went there for the Jummah prayer.

This is a lovely looking mosque set in a small but quaint garden. It's mainly built of white stone and has a wonderful crafted steeple. It has three large arches to it's facade held in place by four pillars, and has a nice blue pattern around it's windows and under dome circles. It also also has three domes on the facade. Inside it has beautiful patterened walls and windows with a large elegant central chandelier

Located up the hill from the Old Town, this mosque was completed in 1492. The same year as Columbus sailed to the Americas. It is not a grand mosque, but is pleasing to the eye and worth a visit. It has changed little since it was built, but a renovation was completed in 2011. It is quite a walk up to the mosque, so take your time.

Much of this 1492-built mosque is original. Inside is very plain. The portico is of more interest, with painted domes and an inscription in old Turkish.

This is definitely one of the oldest buildings we've seen in Skopje, and is so beautifully designed. The large dome in tall minaret stand tall, and a must visit.

A renovated 15th-century mosque with historic architecture, a rose garden, and a tomb. A very peaceful place and was invited inside to sit on a prayer. A beautiful inside and can be seen from the fortress.

..... which allowed you to go inside (quite unusual).
As most mosques was not glossy but did have an eye catching mosaic floor to ceiling.
Ladies will have to wear scarfs which are provided.

We were there during prayer time, so we had a glimpse inside as to not disturb the religious activity. The Mosque is beautiful both on the inside and on the outside, and gives some great views of Skopje too!
