A beautiful facility styled like an old Polish getto. An amazing collection of books in Yiddish, many rescued by Aaron Lansky and his wife Gail, from dumpsters. They bring in amazing musical performances, especially klezmer music, and films and plays from an almost lost era. This is truly a tribute to those who outfoxed the Nazis who sought to eliminate... This is the most amazing museum, really. A beautiful and innovative architecture by any standard that was built to protect and display the world's largest collection of Yiddish works, woven around the history of their times. An amazing experience for anyone of any religion and especially in the current xenophobic political administration and climate, important to be reminded of protecting... More

We attended a guided tour which is what I highly suggest. You will come away with an appreciation of the history of the language and the work being done by the museum.

This organization has been prominent in the bringing back the Yiddish language, encouraging translation into English of texts, preserving Yiddish books...Fascinating small exhibits, frequent audio visual programs, performances. The architecture evokes the lost shtetl's of Europe.

Amazing place to learn, read, review and listen. To see what one man started and how he has been able to help save this beautiful language is inspiring. It's much more than the words - it's the culture and the story of how the desire to assimilate can swing too far - at the risk of immigrants losing their own... More

This is a valuable institution for its rare book collections, special events, museum exhibits, concerts, tours and more, all packaged in an attractive post-and-beam building on a peaceful, natural setting on the grounds of Hampshire College a few miles south of Amherst town centre. Well worth a visit!

This is a very special place for anyone interested in Yiddish literature. There is an enormous collection. The museum also does oral histories of Yiddish speakers. Every year there is a "Yidstock" music festival featuring klezmer music. We attended and it was terrific.

We recently visited the Yiddish Book Center for the third time and experienced the Yidstock Music Festival for the second time. The Center is a special place for those of the Jewish faith and for anyone interested in Jewish Culture. The Music Festival presents a variety of primarily Yiddish music, but includes jazz, klezmer, and more modern music. The quality... More
