The Cathedral and Panama museum border this central plaza. There's a gazebo in the center of the square and the buildings surrounding the plaza are architecturally interesting.

No words for the beauty in this old cathedral. From the mother of pearl on the towers, the marble floors, the stained glass windows. Regardless of your religious views or thoughts, this is worth the visit.

Great story about keeping the gold from the pirates. Lots of versions and all are interesting even though none ste avtually proven.

The best part is the massive nativity village in the back. Well worth a visit.

The Plaza de la cathedral or Plaza de la independencia (named as it was the place where panama declared its independence from Colombia on November 3rd 1903) is located in the centre of the casco vieja. It features a number of beautifully restored Colonial buildings and the two tourist attractions of the metropolitan cathedral and the Panama Canal museum. You’ll inevitably find yourself here as part of a tour of the casco viejo.

Plaza de la Independancia is a photographer's dream. The surrounding architecture, the gazebo, the church, plus all of the flowers. Oh yea, the lampposts, can't forget them.

More accurately called the Plaza de la Independencia. This is the heart of the Casco Viejo neighborhood and location of the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Canal Museum.

The Catedral Metropolitana de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, which dominated Plaza, is not big, but elegant. Funny sculptures depicting holy figures in Latin style

The church and other buildings surrounding the square a beautiful and well worth a look. Nice at night, too, when it's all lit up.
