On a recent trip to the beautiful country of Panama, we were fortunate to be able to go on a private tour of the Palacio de Las Garzas - the President's Palace. It is located in the Casco Viejo area of Pamama City. The tour guide was engaging and very knowledgable. The Palacio is serene, impressive and steeped with history. Our visit was humbling and very special.

I did not have luck making contact with people at the palace from the US. Fortunately, a contact at my hotel was able to arrange a tour of the palace for me.
You should allow time to find the right place to enter the palace complex, go through security, and then find Senora Beltran - the woman who coordinates the tours.
Tours are given in English and Spanish - and are very very informative. You see several rooms on the main floor and second floor. Our group even got a wave from the First Lady of Panama - so that was a bonus.

One of the important and notable buildings in the old town, displayed on a square, part of your walking tour of the gorgeous old city.

Part of this is a museum covering Panama's history and was worth a visit to see the architecture. The museum which opened as such in 1977 depicts the colonial history and the Republic since 1903.The area was heavily guarded and difficult to enter as it is also a. Worth a look.

No access to the Presidential Palace when I visited in October 2021 as this area of Casco Viejo was fenced off and guarded with a high security presence

A rare opportunity to visit with a guided tour of the official residence of the Panamanian president. The original building was built in 1673. Small rather intimate, like a beautiful piece of Art.

Around the corner from Independence Plaza is Panama's Presidential Palace, overlooking the water.
It is guarded at either end with roadblocks, and there are guards outside the Palace too, but as foreign tourists, we were allowed down the road and in front of the Palace.
They allowed us to take photos.
The Palace features African herons wandering around inside, in a covered Courtyard, and we were also allowed to photograph through the bars of the front gate to get the herons at the fountain.
It's an impressive building and one to add to your walking tour of old Panama City.
