Plaza de San Francisco was rededicated in 1883 to honor Venezuelan General Simon Bolivar. General Bolivar, is also known as the “Liberator of Latin America”. This lovely square is surrounded by grand historical, architectural buildings with a large bronze monument highlighting its center. Located in the UNESCO designated Casco Viejo, it is worth wandering this small enclave for a visit.

Located in another attractive and colourful square in Casco Viejo, the striking statue of Venezuelan general Simon Bolivar, the "Liberator of Latin America", dominates Bolivar Square. The attractive bell tower of Iglesias San Francisco de Asis, built in the 17th century and restored after fires in 1737 and 1756, is also located here. Palacio Bolivar, where an 1826 congress was held to discuss unification of Colombia, Mexico and Central American, is located nearby.

In the center of the plaza is a monument to the Venezuelan general Simon Bolivar, also known as the "Liberator of Latin America," with decorative friezes marking events of his life and an Andean condor perched above him.

Nice little park with a large centralized statue. We happened upon this park as we wandered the streets of old town. Across the street is a large historic church. There are also a few small cafe’s which out line this little square/park.

Definitely should be included when touring Casco Viejo. Beautiful city square with monument to Simon Bolivar, the hero of independence from Spain. Nearby Palacio Bolivar is of huge historic significance. Plenty of patio dining available here as well.

Nearly as impressive as Plaza de la Independence nearby. But more intimate and prettier with the (southern) church lighting after dark.

Bordered by row of restaurants to the north; Casa Blanca was our favorite. Mostly enjoyed by local couples, families and groups of friends.

Much impressed by Covid behaviors here. Both my wife and I are 1A workers and fully vaccinated. But we felt much safer around CV, and everywhere else in Panama, than around anywhere we have had to travel in the United States. We only saw one wildly selfish woman insisting she and those around her need not be concerned about any viruses -- she was professionally ushered out of the plaza by the policia turismo.

This was a great stop on our bike tour. There was plenty to see in the area including the St. Francis de Asis church as well as the statue in the center of the park.

Full of decent, but expensive snacky type restaurants.
This is a place where Simon Bolivar tried to organise the indpendence movement for the liberation of Central and South America.

Nice square and park (with trees)in Casco Viejo. One of the things you’ll see strolling around this area. Can hang out a while and watch the people pass by. Nice!
