Nice old part of town, beautiful churches nicely restored old buildings (some are still being restored). Some good gelato places and restaurants, lovely malecon with city view. Loads of police as apparently the area just outside casco viejo is not safe. Best to come here in a taxi.

Pros: lots of shops, restaurants and culture, cool street art Cons: no parking so best to Uber or cab it, if driving, watch out for the homeless who will harass you about watching your car for $5. Trash is everywhere.

What a cool place. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. Plenty of site seeing or people watching. Make sure to check out one of the numerous roof top bars. Sunday has a little section for handicrafts and souvenirs. Some buildings and churches getting a facelift but church bells are ringing and a great vibe wherever you go.

Cool vibe- still needs a lot of work. Safe to walk around with great restaurants. Can see everything in a day. We stayed at the American Trade Hotel which was great.

We visited Casco Viejo and I can say that this part of the city was the cleanest , (unfortunately like any big city Panama City is not very clean ). Very beautiful, small cafes and restaurants several churches some under restoration, The main church, and the "ministerio de gobierno", beautiful architecture. Our guide ( a very nice taxi driver )... More

Very interesting combination of old and new architecture. Basically casco itself is classic architecture mixed in with shops and restaurants. You can see modern sky rise in background. Felt very safe .

This was my second visit here, and it was amazing to see how much more of the old buildings had been restored. Two years ago, maybe less than 1/3 were renovated, but now it looked like 2/3 reds had been restored in keeping with the UN World Heritage Site designation. It reminds one of Mediterranean Europe, with the narrow cobble... More

Loved how the old blends with the new in Panama City. Definitely spend a few hours walking around here when in Panama City.

What a great place! Fun, energized, places for dinner and drinking on rooftop locations spouting up! Felt safe plenty of police and tourists. The history and old structure of buildings everywhere...you must visit at least one night...close to Allbook airport and Ave Balboa.

This area is small and mostly under construction. There are a few places to see but not so many. If you want, you can leave visiting this area until your last day as it is mostly for shopping. There are tons of small shops there carrying all types of Panama souvenirs. There was one soft yogurt shop by the name... More
