It was built by Americans before First World War. Also BioMuseun by Frank Gehry, but open just weekends.Visited November 2022Written 18 December 2022
- ScottSan Francisco, California5,245 contributionsHiding in plain siteAlthough glaring obvious, this is a bit of a hidden gem that I discovered on the last day of my 5-day trip to Panama City. The BioMuseo (amazing natural history museum ) is the first thing you encounter when approaching this causeway. There are plenty of restaurants and random tourist attractions for kids. You'll find the largest concentration of ice cream, yogurt, and smoothie shops anywhere in Panama City.Visited December 2022Travelled soloWritten 19 December 2022
- MARCIA196548 contributions2 days in Panama CityPanama City is a city with a lot of inequality and sometimes you have to drive through a very poor quarter in order to reach your destination. But I think that visitinh the Canal is worth the trip. We also visited the Amador Causeway, that is very beautiful, and Casco Viejo, which I found was the best of the whole trip.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 January 2023
- CSBrooklyn, New York13 contributionsBeautiful Skyline and Harbor ViewsA great way to spend a few hours. Nice shopping, a beautiful view of the city skyline, and plenty of dine al fresco dining options. You can also rent bikes and other things from Burke's Bikes, which is a must do. Also, if you can get to the Monuments to the cultures, it is fascinating and beautiful. It was not on anything that i read about, as it is slightly out of the way, but easily visited by bike.Visited January 2023Written 6 February 2023

The place offers tons of chairs for you to enjoy the view of downtown Panama City and Casco Viejo. The place felt pretty safe and there are a lot of options for food and drinks. There’s a park nearby with a playground for those who have kids. This would have been a five star review if trash weren’t littered on the sea floor. Otherwise, I had a relaxing time spending about an hour hanging out there after my excursion in Taboga Island.Visited March 2023Travelled soloWritten 3 March 2023
- KarenM1_101,084 contributionsOld and New CityWe stopped here on our cruise ship. Unfortunately, it was a Federal Holiday when we arrived so almost all the shops, restaurants and attractions were closed. We decided to take the Hop on Hop off bus to get a feel for the Old and New City. We got off the bus in the Old City and wandered around the area, had lunch, and visited a few shops that were open. Instead of taking the bus back to our cruise ship shuttle we decided to get a taxi (rates are negotiable). If we return, we would like to spend more time in the Old City. The New City is where all the larger buildings are located. There was a mall in that area, but there did not appear to be more to see in the way of sites there.Visited January 2023Written 25 May 2023

Fantastic sea breeze to help cool you down! Great to watch the ships pass by and see the Bridge of the Americas We visited in low season and restaurants don't open until after 10am - so don't go looking for an early breakfast! Lots of restaurants to choose from of varying price ranges. Street vendors, ice cream shops and lots of bike/scooter/trike hire shops! Lots of families go in the evenings as there are great things for children there. Paths and wide and marked with distances in both directions- split for pedestrians and bikes. Great views across the bay to the view of the new city. Bio museo and Punta Calebra on the causeway. Hop on/off buses stop here as well as local buses and the endless taxis looking for business who toot as they pass to see if you want them to stop. Loved watching the pelicans flying around and sitting on the docks. Great place to get away to - we stayed on the causeway and were glad we did so. If you walk down the Isla Flamenco you can see the cruise terminal and the Panama sign.Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 August 2023

Definitely gives a cool vibe and the area is kept very clean. My son very much enjoyed playing in the park. There are a few vendors around as well selling shaved ice and sausage skewers (I'm not sure of the correct name - I'm sorry!). This time around we also went to Panama Karting nearby which was lots of fun for my son. There's also an adult course as well. Also worth going all the way to the end by Flamenco Marina for photos by the Panama Sign.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 August 2023

The causeway is the place to do it. Take a stroll along the waterfront, rent a bike or a scooter or something else to move around, take pictures of the ships waiting for their turn at the Canal, or take a picture simply with palm tree and ocean backdrops. We went twice.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 September 2023

Do not come in peak hours. Traffic is horrible. I left my hotel in Cinta Costera at 7:30pm and took me 1 hour to get there. Now I’m mad and starving. Uber said it’d be 23 minutes ride.

Amador causeway is definitely worth visiting. Went twice, once on a private city tour and once on our own. Both times were very enjoyable. Actually saw a sloth in a tree at the Smithsonian Tropical Institute on first occasion there. Would definitely recommend going.

Wonderful and long walk along the Causeway. The Panama City skyline is beautiful to see and you can stop at the Bio Museo as an outing. We walked one way and had lunch.

Is there any wifi available out on the Causeway to get an Uber back to the city?
briannameighan

To my knowledge there's not general wi-fi available on the Causeway, but I'm sure you could always use the wifi of the restaurant - perhaps at most you may be asked to order something. Hope that helps! Enjoy Panama - it's a beautiful and amazing country to visit!

We are staying at Dreams Playa Bonita. How far is it to the Amador causeway from there? Can we take Uber? How much does the bike rentals cost?

Uber is cheap but be careful that the driver doesn't try to scam you. I rented a two person bike and it was $10 an hour.

They said it is in the final stages and in 6 - 8 months the cruise ships and aircraft carriers should be travelling through.

Will most likely be staying at Country Inn @ Panama Canal and was wondering where I can rent bikes or 3-4 person bikes and ride to the end of the Causeway. How much are the rentals and can we rent them late afternoon and return after dinner?
