The commute wasn't too bad . It was kinda close to where my Air BnB was. It cost me USD$7 by UBER. There're well appointed steps that take you right to the rim of the long dormant Volcano. The volcano is now covered with trees, bushes and grass. I was underwhelmed by it. On the way down from the peak there are a few cafès & I pulled in to one of them for some food.

A trip to the top of Volcan San Salvador and El Boqueron National Park is a must if visiting San Salvador. It is a 30 minute Uber ride from the Zona Rosa area of San Salvador. Make sure you arrange for the driver to wait or return as there is no cell service at the top. It is a short mildly strenuous hike from the parking lot to the overlooks of the crater at the top of the volcano. We spent about 30-40 minutes hiking at the top. Great views of San Salvador from the road up to the top. Plenty of restaurants and cafes with spectacular views along the road to the volcano and at the top.

Great national park with some amazing views when you do the hiking trail up to see the crater. Allow a minimum of half a day here.

I was born not far from here, and I was young we would spend months in el Volcan de Santa Ana, most of my family is from here so I had no choice and took it for granted, not I cherished this lovely place.

This was such a treat to be able to hike a top the volcano, to then stare down its center. The views from my plane were also breathtaking! An amazing place in a heart of this beautiful city!

The closest vulcano to town. Take an Uber and ask the guy for you, pay the difference in cash. It much anyway.
Quite a small park, about 30 min to walk around. There are 4 observation points. The crater is about 1.5 wide and close to 600 meters deep.
Entrance is 2$, but the place is guarded and clean.

I thought it was pretty neat. It's a pretty basic walk to get to the crater rim. I believe entrance to the park was $2. I ended up taking an uber to the entrance for about $7, and then just caught the bus on the way down. I didn't do it, but would highly suggest you find a guide to take you down to the bottom of the crater. Overall was happy I went!

The hike up to the crater's rim rim was relatively easy, though there were a number of steps involved. The view was breathtaking. Our guide told us the volcano has been dormant for just over 100 years, with the last eruption occurring in 1917. Recommend bringing an umbrella and/or a poncho if you come during the rainy season as there are few shelters available at the top and they are a bit leaky.

It was super cloudy the day I went so I didn't get any city views, but the views at the top let you look down into the old mouth of the volcano. It's all green now and is a nice quiet hike with some shopping and restaurants near the park entrance.
