Has been very nicely restored outside. Even if you don’t go inside during the week, you can enjoy it’s beauty from Barrios across the street. The Metropolitan Cathedral is also on the square. Don’t be afraid to come to downtown San Salvador during the daytime....More

We came here and were surprised to find we could go inside. For $3 we were able to walk through the palace and check out the beautiful rooms inside.

It is expensive to maintain an historical building like this, and lack of expenditure was obvious. A visit here provides a lot of historical perspective. Other than the plaza and Cathedral there is not much else to see walking around this area.

8-4pm M-F according to website. Does not close at noon -- would be a nice place to sit and rest out of the midday sun. Don't know the price of admission but is is not much by U.S. standards -- maybe $3?
