The best part of this museum is the exterior of the building. The art collection itself is very bland. I was particularly interested in seeing the Romanian part. However, it was completely derivative. You could find just about every major European style in the Romanian...More

This beautiful building is home to the National Museum of Art in Bucharest. On the lawn around the building are sculptures done by local artists. In my opinion, the building itself is a work of art.

This museum is not overwhelming in the amount of art it displays but the quality is fabulous. We went at around 5pm on a Saturday and pretty much had the place to ourselves. There are three El Grecos, the Four Seasons by Peter Breughel the...More

This museum offers a wide collection of art, with icons, wooden doors and other religious objects. It is not crowded in the morning but opens only at 11:00 am in summer.

While the museum has a collection of European art, I think your time is best spent at the Romanian collection.

One wing European, one wing Romanian, all periods of art, well arranged and presented in a beautiful setting. Go to both wings if you have time. Spend some time with the renaissance painting, The Calling of Saint Matthew.
