An incredible collection of traditional peasant artefacts, costumes and icons. Even some reconstructed buildings. Don't miss going downstairs to the exhibition of Soviet period land collectivisation which ironically destroyed the peasant way of life. Unfortunately there is no English signage here but the anti-propaganda cartoons...More

This is the most boring museum I've ever been to. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. They charge you 30 lei to take one photograph. I would never go back or recommend this museum. Avoid.

The museum could be splendid. Its collections included entire village churches, rebuilt inside the museum, thousands of peasant artifacts and a recreated village school room. The problem is that half the time you don't know what you are looking at. The descriptions that do exist...More

If you have a real interest in the culture of the Romanian people, then you will be delighted with this place. A series of large rooms with many examples of craftsmanship, from hundreds of carved wooden eggs, religious paintings and outfits to an entire house,...More

A very interesting museum, though the exhibitions are presented in a way that isn't very informative for visitors who don't know Romanian traditions well. A guide book, or ideally a guide, is recommended to make your visit worthwhile.

The guide books rave about this museum, but I found it quite disappointing. This is in part because I rented the English audio guide. The supercilious English voice almost immediately began to preach at me in a really off-putting way about the importance of Christian...More

This museum is definitely worth visiting and. as in your pocket says, its great for kids. I particularly liked it for the chaotic jumbled atmosphere, with endless interesting exhibits of all shapes, sizes and types stretching out for room after room after room. It is...More

Went here on the way to the village museum. Entry was reasonable, but the price of taking pictures was crazy! We didn't bother. Glad we didn't as there really wasn't a lot to take pictures of. For a reasonable price it was worth spending 30...More

When I visit a museum, no matter what type or where in the world I am, I ask the question "Who is the audience, who was this museum made for." This one has me stumped. First of all let me say, I loved it. It...More
