    4 Bookstores called Carturesti
You will go here because it is one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. But you will be delighted to know that there are three more! Carusel is the dreamy one, & Friends is all English, Modul is the artistic one and Verona is the grand daddy complete with plump brown leather chairs.

Well designed book shop in the heart of Bucharest
This bookshops design is so well thought out. There are 4 levels to the shop. Each level had a different theme. Also they don’t just sell books. On the basement level they had games, on the first floor it was books accessories food drinks wine etc, second floor was just books, top floor was a little cafe and toilet. We didn’t try the cafe although we did hear it was nice for a coffee. Even if you not a book lover you should still go to admire the layout and creativeness of the shop.

    Expensive, but lovely
I stumbled upon this shop on accident after visiting a Romania-themed gift shop close by. This bookstore was absolutely beautiful and had lots of colorful items and gifts for sale. They were surprisingly pricey though — at least for Romania. But, I definitely recommend stopping by while doing some shopping in Bucharest.

    A bookshop worth browsing
Had heard that it was a bookstore in the Old Town, and had books in both English and Romanian. Took a stroll to Strada Lipscani and thought to kill a half hour out of the blazing sun. But it was far more interesting here than expected. A good range of materials for purchase, mostly in Romansch but many in English, and a few odd titles in other languages. Spent 90 minutes here, well worth the diversion.

We stopped in to have a look, and yes, it's aesthetically pleasing with lovely architeture but the selection is not really any ifferent from most other major bookshops. We spent some time looking around at the books and admiring the interior. However, as the place is full of other tourists jostling to get the perfect social-media snaps, we didn't hang around long.

Nice, but has turned into more of a photo-op for influencers and seems to have lost some appeal as a place for true book-lovers. People appeared to be more interested in having their photos taken inside instead of checking out the literary selection.

Loved this bookshop! It is a lovely building but it also has the best selection of books in English that I have seen in a country where English is not the first language. Excellent variety of interesting books several of which I have not seen in England. Also some nice gifts but mainly it is worth visiting if you are looking for books in English - the prices were reasonable too. Highly recommended.

Lovely bookstore, with a lot of choices on books, games, small gadgets, etc. i always come here when i visit Bucharest.
The cafe they have upstairs needs some serious changes though, first with the attitude of the personnel.

First visit here.

The library is very pretty with awesome interior design. It looks chique while still looking like a bit like something out of a Fairy tale.

There is a large amount of choice and they also got some English books.

There is also merchandise, a small Art exhibition and a café upstairs! Pretty much something for anyone.

Beautiful book store in Bucharest Old Town, clearly a destination for the instagram generation. Lots of visitors taking photographs (us included). Interesting inventory of products beyond the books, spread over 5 floors.

We stumbled across this store and spent over an hour browsing the shelves on the first visit. Enjoyed it so much my colleague and I went twice in the end!

Staff were very helpful (my sister is learning Romanian and I couldn't find the language books). A big selection of English language books too and also sections for Spanish and German and other languages too.

It is a beautiful setting for every bookworm but also offers toys, board games, novelty (but not tacky) gifts, including tea, chocolate, wine etc.
