Pretty Orthodox Church

Visited here whilst wandering around Bucharest. A small complex of religious buildings and a church. Went inside and it worth the visit

Free entry. Photography inside not allowed. Another gorgeous Orthodox church - full of religious "bling" ... It is a working church, so visitors must be respectful of church-goers praying. Bit of a walk up the hill from Unirii Square - but worth the effort ...

It`s the "head office" of the Romanian Orthodox Church. A nice church nearby anyway. It`s on the top of a small hill near Unirii Square. If you have 30 mins to spend in that area you can go here...

We visit The Patriarchal Catedral of Romania on 04 March 2017. The orthodox complex is located in a hill in the center of Bucharest .The Cathedral is very impresive, build in typical orthodox style for Romania. Inside the temple there are holy silver icons of saints and amazing frescoes. The fotos are forbidden . Outside there is large yard and... More

This place, compared with the other part of the city, is a little Eden. All is very treated and perfect, and the Fresco on the wall are so good. You can miss it!! Da non perdere, meraviglioso!

We went at Sunday lunch time when there were no services. An official gave us permission to take photographs. There were some locals performing devotions so did not want to be to intrusive. The interior of this small cathedral is stunning with beautiful frescos (painted in 1923 to replicate older damaged ones, I believe). Lovely gilded alter. There is a... More

We only got to see the outside of the main Cathedral. We did go inside one of the smaller churches and it was very nice. Romanians like to say this is their Vatican.

As romanians are mostly orthodox - all churches and cathedrals are classy religious buildings with lots of beautiful elements and decorations.

The outside doesn't prepare you for the beauty inside. Very ornate, the more you look, the more you see. Also lovely frescos in the foyer. A hidden gem, there was hardly anyone about when we went there.
