This statue is a great opportunity to take a cool photo with your friend but it also offers you a chance of learning something new about the Croatian history. Marija Jurić Zagorka was a writer and journalist who was writing about the witch hunt in...More

If you go to Tkalčićeva street from the direction of the Ban Jelačić Square you can't miss it. She launched the first magazine for women in Croatia. The most famous her novel is "Grička vještica".That's a historical novel.

Located on what is locally known as pulse/bar street is the proud statue of Croatia's first female journalist. Which looks a little out of place being surrounded by, cafes and restaurants that are frequented by Zagrebs young and hip crowds

Interesting and important woman in Croatian History, the small corner where this statue is located breaks the dullness of bars, restaurants, and shops of Tkalciceva street.

This lady's stutue is quite easily overlooked when you walk along Tkalciceva. We searched around that small area but didnt find any info about her. No name. Looks like Eleanor Roosevelt. Later when I had wifi, I learned more about Maria Juric Zagorka.

Seeing as how Zagorka's statue is right under the sundial, it makes checking off two landmarks in one stroke a lot easier. Both landmarks are along Tkalčićeva Street itself, which you will inevitably find yourself on in your foot tour around Zagreb anyway. I read...More

Zagorka is famous Croatian writer and journalist. The most famous work is Grička vještica. This monument is situated in Tkalčićeva Street, but you can easily miss it. Behind her on the house gate you can see sun clock.

If you are going towards the jelacic square along the tkalciceva street you can easily miss this monument. But if Walking the opposite direction you wil see it right before your eyes. It celebrates the first woman journalist in croatia.

Just an average statue in my humble opinion. Maria Juric Zagorka is a fascinating woman but she can easily overlooked as you walk along Tkalciceva.
