I saw this statue while looking for the St. Mark's Church. It is located in a very small location surrounded by restaurants. It got my attention when I saw 3 Chinese girls posing next to it! Need more statues for female heroes and writers!

As we were moving around in Tckalciceva area we came across this statue. We were told she was a famous journalist and has written some good books. I understand she was also known as the lady with a pungent pen.

Marija Jurić Zagrka was a Croatian journalist and writer. She was practically first female journalist. The statue is beautiful, located in one of the old parts of the city.

If you go to Tkalčićeva street from the direction of the Ban Jelačić Square you can't miss it. She launched the first magazine for women in Croatia. The most famous her novel is "Grička vještica".That's a historical novel.

Located on what is locally known as pulse/bar street is the proud statue of Croatia's first female journalist. Which looks a little out of place being surrounded by, cafes and restaurants that are frequented by Zagrebs young and hip crowds

This lady's stutue is quite easily overlooked when you walk along Tkalciceva. We searched around that small area but didnt find any info about her. No name. Looks like Eleanor Roosevelt. Later when I had wifi, I learned more about Maria Juric Zagorka.

Seeing as how Zagorka's statue is right under the sundial, it makes checking off two landmarks in one stroke a lot easier. Both landmarks are along Tkalčićeva Street itself, which you will inevitably find yourself on in your foot tour around Zagreb anyway. I read...More

Zagorka is famous Croatian writer and journalist. The most famous work is Grička vještica. This monument is situated in Tkalčićeva Street, but you can easily miss it. Behind her on the house gate you can see sun clock.
