We came across Tuskana Cinema by accident as we were leaving Stross mayer Promenade a while back. What caught our attention was the statue of Charlie Chaplin on the lawn next to the building.

We came here for the Zagreb film festival 2014, the place was supposed to be a cultural monument in the movie business here. The movie was great but the cinema wasn't too modern and lots of noise came in from the outside.

The cinema is well-preserved, old fashioned and great for seeing old movies. We saw Breakfast at Tiffanys. The seats are comfortable and the screen is ample. There is no concession stand indoors (or wasn't when we went) so look for the popcorn vendor outside.

A small and somewhat poorly maintained building that houses a great treasure. Here is where old films are shown for visitors who want a break from expensive modern blockbusters. The film programme for each month consists of a series of films by a particular director, starring a particular actor, or from a particular era or genre. You'll find a seried of films by Fellini, or modern Japanese films. The ticket price is very cheap, and you can pay an annual subscription for free access for the whole year round. Often you'll have an opportunity to see films that have been long-forgotten, or those you cannot find anywhere. Highly recommended
