Its a fairly non descript square located in the middle of the 3 parks that make up the area between the train station and Ban Josip square. We walked by multiple times and didn't really stop and take much time as it wasn't the most beautiful place or had very much to see. It had some nice buildings around it though.

This square is just to the north of King Tomislav Square, separated by the Baruna Trenka. Just like that square, there’s plenty of greenery here. The most prominent building is the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, while the centrepice of the square is a statue honouring, Josip Juraj Strossmayer, a Croatian politician and Roman Catholic bishop, who is best known for his contributions in founding the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts and the re-establishment of the University of Zagreb. The statue is a bronze sculpture of a seated Strossmayeru. He is depicted wearing his priestly robes and deep in thought. His head is balding with only a ring of hair encircling the outside of the head, but bizarrely swept upwards and forward to something resembling horns. A bit odd. The statue is appropriately located in front of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts building.

Strossmayer Square is a lovely little square that I chanced upon as I was wandering around this eclectic and vibrant city.
The square is dominated by a statue in honour of Josip Juraj Strossmayer ,the square named in honour of this great man ,behind the statue is a wonderful looking building namely the Croatian Academy Of Sciences And Arts Building ,the square itself is superb ,well maintained and is an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of the city centre ,well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Located just behind King Tomislav square.

Great place to walk around, beautiful buildings around.

This area also has a park which features a statue or Josip Juraj Strossmayer, alternarively spelled Josip Juraj Štrosmajer who was a Croatian politician, Roman Catholic bishop, and benefactor.

The square is located in the center between King Tomislav Square and Zrinjevac Park. The square was named after Josip Juraj Strossmayer, which was a Croatian politician, Roman Catholic bishop, and benefactor. Here is his monument.

The area hosts many festivals and concerts, during which it is worth a visit. We were in September during the Burger Festival. The atmosphere was wonderful. There were many stalls with excellent burgers, a variety of drinks, gourmet sweets, tables, benches, a point with a DJ. It was fun, interesting and tasty. Super place for young and children.

I visited the Square as part of walking the Lenuci Horseshoe. I found it one of the least impressive of the Squares I visited. I would not recommend going out of your way to visit it.

I passed this Square while walking from the Central Station to the Upper and Lower Towns. Men in black suits appeared to be preparing for some special event or show. They were testing the sound system.

Gardeners were busy planting some new flowering plants while a family was posing in front of the Strossmayer Statue located here.

Enjoyed my short visit here!

I was expecting a big park, but it is like a small garden without trees(?). Actually I was aiming to get the library. It was good to be there for a rest. This person seems well respected. There were some locals who take pictures professionally with this statue.
