This Museum, housed in a former mosque, contains unbelievable archaeological finds of Bulgaria. Covers about 1 million years of human history, as it begins with stone age and proceeds though the various cultures that lived in Bulgaria, up to the Middle Ages. It essentially stops...More

Really interesting museum in a cool building. Lots of artefacts with English descriptions arranged into different time periods. So many in fact that a number of the 'heavier' ones are pilled up outside the museum!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. The layout is very good and easy to make sure you see everything. For me, the prehistoric room was the highlight, Bulgaria is lucky to have such wonderful archaeology.

The ancient Thrace and ancient Bulgaria in general are on display in this comfortable and open museum. The museum is not pretentious and allows visitors to discover on their own time.

Interesting museum, with friendly welcome and information. Only spent an hour here as the children were not very interested in the artefacts. Lots to see inside and a family to key cost us (£5) equivalent. Toilet facilities and souvenir shop in the entrance.
