Highlight! WOW! Time your visit with a service or ceremony.
Highlight. You cannot come to Sofia and not see this. Check the website and time your visit if possible with a service. The structure from the outside is spectacular. The colours and the gold glisten in the sunlight. Really is impressive. I went twice. Go inside and you will be stunned even more. A masterpiece. I was left breathless. There was some sort of ceremony or service going on which was interesting to watch. Well kept. Take it in, walk around and appreciate what you will see before you. Huge. Look up too. Small souvenir shop selling mainly religious items. Free to enter. I just went into the main part.

    Incredible
Wow incredible cathedral standing at the centre of Sofia and one if it's most famous buildings. The beautiful golden domes visible from various parts of the city. Free entrance but a donation to take photographs. Inside there are some beautiful paintings on the walls and ceiling.

The main cathedral of the Bulgarian Church
The cathedral didn't make any special impression on me from the outside, and everything is quite typical inside. But I liked the atmosphere - there is no special pomp, somehow everything is cozy at home. Considering that this is the main cathedral of the Bulgarian Church, I was very pleasantly surprised.

    Beautiful and serene
Even having seen all the photos of this iconic cathedral it was still more impressive in real life! We were staying nearby and were able to wander around the are at looking different at various times of the day and night. We were able to wander inside early in the morning and sit almost alone in the beautiful interior for quiet reflection and contemplation - best time to visit if you want to avoid any crowds.

Be sure to visit inside - beautiful!
We were lucky to visit on a day when the lights were on inside so we were able to see the amazing detail work inside this cathedral. Note that it costs 10 leva to take pictures inside, and the security is very aggressive in ensuring that people are not taking pictures without permission; keep your photo pass visible at all times. Absolutely gorgeous!

    Unique design for Cathedral
From outside it does look really good, not a normal cathedral design you would see in Europe, multiple gold domes glow at night. Inside also very different, mostly standing with chairs around perimeter, high ceiling with full wall paintings all to a high standard. I visited on national holiday making it even more special. Free to enter but you pay to take photos.

    A Truly Impressive Cathedral
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is truly impressive. It's huge from the outside and appears even larger from the inside. Excellent religious art adorns every wall, ceiling, and space. Gold, silver, and other precious metals shine and make the inside glow. Highly recommend.

The cathedral is big, but there is very little to see. It is dimly lit and the frescoes are dark and hard to see. Compared with other orthodox churches it is underwhelming. It is still a must see in town but mainly due to lack of options. You can take photos and films if the staff is there. THe price of photos with camera or mobile is 10 Lev while videos are 30 lev. Can't really say what will happen if you film from your mobile...

Very big and nice Orthodox Church but it seems a little neglected. Renovations and restorations should be done for the church to demonstrate its real beauty

It’s an amazing cathedral with a very unique architecture and a beautiful surrounding area. It’s the most photogenic building in Sofia

Beautiful church from the outside but really nothing much inside… it’s free of charge so don’t miss it even though. Go by at night as well to see it lit up by light…

The cathedral from the outside is pretty impressive but is rather drab on the inside.
The staff there were very abrupt and unfriendly.

Beautiful building, the frescoes are amazing. Very impressive altogether, even after having visited quite some orthodox churches.
