This monument was constructed in 1882 by the Russians and for the Russians, in honour of liberation during Russo-Ottoman war.

The Russian Monument was erected to the fallen of the Russian - Turkish War ,its not extraordinary and in fact in my opinion is rather drab ,its worth a few quick photos if your in the area but it's not worth going out of your way to view.

Nice reminder that Russians often bring freedom to places they coming...
This monument was erected at the place where last Turkish soldiers leaving Sofia pushed back by Russian army who brings the freedom to Bulgaria after hundreds years of occupation.

I think that is very bad, not because of only esthetic, but it has no sense for real the area is not so cool and actually the only nice things are the flowers the rest is nothing actually is just a square if you want to know at 2 stops of tram 5 there is Vitosha boulevard believe me to see it while you are on the tram from the window look even better...because you don't have much time to realize that is so ugly

The Russian Monument is an obelisk and the funds for building were collected by the Russian people.
Situated 7-8 minutes walk from NDK Metro station, in the middle of a major roundabout of Skobelev and Totleben boulevards, this monument was erected 150 years ago.
The big square here is carrying the name of the monument.
It forms a quintessential five-star near Mall of Sofia, Macedonia Square, Crystal Business Center and Pirogov Hospital.

I followed the trail to the Russian Monument and found an insignificant little obelisk on a roundabout - not memorable. Built by Russians for Russians to commemorate their role in the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule at the end of the 19th century. Miss it and you'll have missed nothing and it is located well away from the main visitor attractions in a slightly unkempt neighbourhood.

Nothing special, just a monument in the center of a roundabout busy with cars, buses and trams. To be visited only if passing through.
