This is an interesting historical and archeological museum which is worth visiting at least as much for its iconic architecture and place in Enver Hoxha's Communist-era Tirana as for the museum itself. It is one of the most, if not the most, important example of...More

The museum follows the time line of history. It starts 8000 years ago with the stone age. The museum has a very beautiful collection of the Greek period. Also of the Roman period. Later the ottomans came and stayed for 300 years. Albania made several...More

Very good museum for gaining an insight to Albania's history. Well worth an hour or so. Would have scored higher had they allowed photography. I would have been proud to show my friends at home the delights of the displays and encourage them to visit.

We had a wonderful local tour guide who included this museum. Learned a lot about this part of Europe from pre-historic to Mother Teresa. Now am going to read more about the Elyrians, the predecessors of the modern Albanians and fierce warriors who protected Europe...More

This museum is not very big, but very interesting and well organized. Interesting place if you want to learn about the country and people.

Starts from the beginning, with flint tools found locally, and takes you to liberation after WWII. Really cheap to get in and isn't huge so doesn't get dull. There is a little gift shop selling hand made scarves, clothing and jewelry. Only slight problem was...More
