This area in the city was one of my favourite. It is perfect for the young people who love night life. It is quite live and has many hang out spots. There are many restaurants and cafes. Bother day and night it is always the location to be if you want to be in the happening area.

This area in communist days was the preserve of the elite. The house of the dictator Hoxha was in this area. It does have places of touristic interest like the Checkpoint Monument quite apart from a raft of restaurants and coffee shops. It’s a trendy area 10-15 minutes from Skanderbeg Square, depending on your walking speed and sightseeing.

The former residence of Enver Hoxha. Now, the area is full of cafes and restaurants. You'll find something for your taste. The Checkpoint Monument is one block away.

Blloku is a newly developing trendy neighborhood of Tirana, around 10-15 min walk south of the main Skenderbeg Sq.
Buildings here are newer and more modern than in other parts of the capital, and the area boosts with many cafes and restaurants. We ate twice at the "Spaghetti Western" (read that review). After dark it's very live in the area.
Besides that, an attraction could be the Enver Hohxa's villa, who resided there, but currently it's not open to visitors, you can only see it from the street. Hope they'll change that.

Blloku is not only rich in history (once being the sole playground of dictator Envar Hoxha and his cohorts) but today has a wealth of bars, cafes and restaurants. It's the most popular part of town to dine out in, grab a drink and go out for the night, and for good reason.

The Enver Hoxha private residence is located in the Blloku area with its many bars. Currently it is closed to the public but rumors indicate that it will soon be opened. “We need to learn from the past - no matter how cruel it is!”
