About
The New Bazaar was established in 1939 and through the following years it kept on prospering and developing. Its establishment came as a necessity, due to the continuous increase of the trade activity which could not be afforded any longer by the only Old Bazaar. After the demolition of the old Bazaar in 1959, the new Bazaar remained for a long time the only trading centre of meat, fish, vegetables and fruits in Tirana. The New Bazaar is located in one of the oldest areas of the city. Even today, it continues to be one of the largest markets for meat, fish, vegetables and fruit trade in town. It's a space that operates 24 hours, with the biggest focus on product trade in the morning hours and on culinary issues in the afternoon for the restaurants around and the development of artistic and cultural activities such as festivals, fairs, etc

    Clean, modern market
Lovely market with a small number of stalls open when we visited about 3pm mid week. May be worth checking the best time to visit (we didn’t check) i.e.when more market stalls are open. Area was clean and well presented. At the time we visited there weren’t many stalls open - only loose tobacco, fruit and bric-a-brac. There were lots of cafes around the market which looked really nice. If you visit would recommend visiting earlier in the day to ensure more stalls are open.

Lots of (very similar) tourist friendly budget restaurants.
This is one of the main areas where tourists should come to eat in Tirana, especially for more budget options. Although most customers seem to be Albanian, there are plenty of tourists eating here. The restaurants generally serve Albanian food. Only cash payment.

    Budget-friendly food and fruits
Even though Tirana is cheap, this market was truly budget-friendly. I used it a few time for fruits and some small stalls offered good food options. What I like about Tirana was the abundance of tangerines wow so cheap and so sweet. Fruits were in great supply and reasonably priced.

It is really a boring modern market ; nothing of interest, nothing old, really built "yesterday"; the kind of standard market you find find your home city

Fierza offenes meat Menü for 23€ not worth it, better food everywhere else

This wouldn't rate highly in a list of "capital city best markets", quite plain in fact
But it is nice to see a few stalls where the produce looks to come from an allotment or smallholding rather than being bought in
Fascinating differences
Never seen tobacco /smoking stalls before with all sorts of smoking paraphernalia and piles of loose tobacco
Stall of "communist", "Russian" bric a brac and including 2nd hand (very well) worn big name watches - Rolex, etc

Modern take on the bazaar of former times, this sanitised version of the bazaar is very nicely presented and full of colourful fruit, vegetables and Albanian souvenirs. The whole area has been renovated and there are some nice cafes and bars there too.

Cool place to get a bite to eat, or if you're just looking for a souvenir or gift to bring back home. So nice local vendor shops too.

This is a newly renovated marketplace you can find in almost every European city.
Market stalls are centrally located where you can buy fruits, veggies, meat and fish.
Around them, as well in the side streets, there are many restaurants and bars, along with souvenir shops.
Nice area to stroll, specially at night. Don't forget to buy fantastic Albanian cheese.
