I grew up with an advertisement saying "Tahiti looks nice..." So when my cruise ship sailed into Papette I was excited - to rapidly be disappointed! The township is obviously struggling - on one hillside are abandoned Hilton and Sheraton hotels rotting away. In the...More

This is a local open market where fruits, vegetables, and fish are sold. It is also a good place to find small gifts. The gifts I recommend are the polished shells from the clams that make black pearls. The best deals are from the older...More

This market is always our first stop in Papeete. The food is fresh and reasonably priced and the flowers are magnificent.

Yea they have a lot of vegetable, fish and some pearls from Tahiti. But if you're not really love markets is nothing special. We felt it more like a tourist attraction than a local market.

Visited about 2pm local after being advised that this market was open. Would have to say 95% of stores / stalls were shut. OK this was a Sunday but suggest you forget it at this time. Tourist shops on top level were average.

This is a good market to shop for souvenirs or just browsing. They are lots of shopping and food options available here. Highly recommend visiting while in Tahiti.

Feels more like a tourist market then anything. Lots of souvenirs you can buy. The flower arrangements that you can get from these markets are amazing though and cheap. Would recommend you have a walk through when your in the area.

I'm sure this market started off with products that locals would have purchased but now it is simply a market for tourists. A lot of the stalls sell the same products and with the same brands you can get for cheaper in the supermarkets.

Definitely a place that everybody has to visit, either to do some souvenir shopping, feel the culture or get something to cook/eat. The best time to be there is Sunday's between 5-8 am where bunch of locals set up some stands to sell local products...More

The food trucks at the waterfront open at 6pm and go for as along as needed. They are a great place to visit. There are numerous restaurants in the area also.
