We stopped here on the way home from another excursion. We were the only people here, and the lady curator took as on a tour of the fort. It was very interesting to hear the history. The kids particularly liked the goats wandering around, and seeing the lovu where unlucky prisoners used to get cooked! Beautiful views from the top.... More

This place is a little out of the way, and you do need good imagination to picture something out of the few ruins. But it offers great views of the area and it is a nice and shaded area for a little walk in the heat. There is a little info center as well that tells you a bit about... More

We found the fort very interesting, it's a terrible shame to see this historical sight so neglected. The lookout is a danger to the public. National Parks were due to visit the day we attended to see what was needed to fix the tracks. They should definitely preserve this sight.

About 20 minutes inland from Sigatoka and you can self drive you can learn a little Fiji history, take some great photos and the views wow! Wear jiggers and the walking trails a bit rough and don't forget water, there is a small shop and clean toilets

We really enjoyed this little slice of Fijian and Tongan heritage. It was amazing to see remains of shells and outlines of properties of the people who once lived here. Our guide was very informative and our driver joined us for the expedition. I would recommend bringing walking shoes and a bottle of water. The guide gave us a grapefruit... More

A great spot for a bit of history and lovely scenery - the government should be giving this more support - thanks to Miriam for taking us on the tour.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Taveuni hill fort. A super nice guide took us around, highlighting the history of the fort as well as some of the local flora and fauna. We really enjoyed the views, although we'd recommend you be careful on the gazebo type structure, it doesn't look all that steady. Also, wear enclosed shoes -... More

A very interesting and informative tour from a woman who is directly related to the original Tongan settlers. The views are absolutely AMAZING! Well worth the visit and the drive up the dodgy road!

Allow at least a couple of hours for this vist plus extra to cope with actually reaching the site which is up a gravelled country track. The Fort is in the process of renovation, but the extremely knowledgeable site curator managed to bring the whole site to life, perched as it is, on the top of a steep hill above... More
