HUGE statue across from Hospital. Never nice photo op, just be careful navigating the stone steps up/down hill.
Definitely worth a quick look

You need to see this before the thieves and vandals destroy it completely. Great bit of art work but many bits are missing now. There is a guard but not sure how effective he is.

This full size bronze is a protest and a statement about the poor roads in Montevideo at the time that is why I included the shot of the wheel leaving the road

This is a beautiful sculpture in a very nice park. We stopped here on our bus tour of the city. There was also a nice selection of vendors selling "tourist" goods. Nice photo stop.

This is one of the most awsome monuments in the park. The park itself is worth traveling through. This reminds of the smaller manument a la Diligencia in the park.

This famous sculpture is dedicated to the legendary gauchos who created the impressive cattle market of Uruguay. Monumento la Carreta was created in honor of the ox-cart drivers of the 19th century. The bronze and granite sculpture was created in 1934 and was recently restored by the artist’s grandson. It is registered as a National Historic Monument.
This is a frequent stop on most city tours and it's located in a nice park called Park Batlle.

This huge sculpture depicts the trials of traveling and shipping by ox cart in earlier times. Get close so you can see the details of the muscles straining on the oxen as they pull. This is set in a lovely park where it is safe to roam. There are usually a few vendors nearby selling local wares.

This huge, life-sized sculpture, created by Jose Belloni in 1934, is locaded in a “peace park.” A tribute to honor 19th century ox cart drivers, it features the driver, his wagon, livestock and oxen
