Our tour stopped in this large park area at the Monument to the Last Charrua people. The statue depicts four Charruas who were captured and shockingly taken to France to be exhibited. The remains of the chief were repatriated to Uruguay for reburial among the heroes of the country. The Charruas were known as fierce warriors.

Easily accessible by bus from downtown, this large park is full of beautiful trees. The park is surrounded by neighbourhoods with eclectic architecture. There was money here, probably up to the 1950s. Some emblematic homes by the architect Bello Reborati are definitely worth checking out. Hard to find a café in the neighbourhood, though.

I think by El Prado they mean a large park you can wander through. We found the botanical park on the east side, nice. We found some bars just west of that. We found a football stadium with a game about to start but no place to buy tickets. We found wide open spaces and trees and grass. Nice! Take some time to enjoy life on your next trip, this is a good place to do it. Plenty of buses running to the park from all over.

This is the neighborhood where the Blanes Museum and the Botanic Garden are located, and also the premises for the annual cattle show. The streets are beautifully lined with trees. It`s a good spot to walk around and check out this little area of the city

Great little area of the city. Nothing life-changing or revolutionary here, but a solid spot. There are a lot of beautiful houses in this area. A lot of them quite old. Good spot to walk around and just check out the area.

At Prado you have stylish old mansions, beautiful churches, the botanical gardens and much more. Every year around Easter you may also join in the celbration of a weeklong fair called the Semana Criolla de Prado. This is the real Uruguay.

the prado is a nice park outside the centre, that has a great botanic garden, split in northern and southern hemisphere, as well as in the parts of the world the plants and trees are from.

we enjoyed especially the colony of green parrots, feasting on fruits and building their nests out of twigs.
