Great location facing Plaza Independencia...but it seems that the city officials have abandoned this historic building, like others in Montevideo.

A strange building. I had to get inside. They do have a English speaking guide. You can’t get into much of the building but worth a look round and finding out the history

I wish I had known of the building tour when we visited Montevideo. The outside form of this building is like nothing else I have ever seen.
