We started out with a wine tour, which was very informative. We then had lunch at the winery. The lunch was absolutely magnificent. The steak was a very large portion that melted in your mouth. The serving of salmon was huge and cooked to perfection. This was one of the best meals we have had. The meal also came with 3 different wine pairings, which were superb.

Lunch with a wine tour- this winery was a half day tour from my hotel Not cheap, yet good value.

An interesting simple tour before a quality lunch with wine options in each course. An extra wine added and a finish with some grappa.

Excellent wine, excellent food excellent facilities! We enjoyed the tour of the winery and really liked their wine. Their Chardonnay and the three grape Tempranillo were world class.

We arranged directly with the Bodega Bouza winery for a tour and wine tasting lunch during our one day cruise stop in Montevideo. The van picked us up just across the street from the cruise ship pier. While the winery was very busy because of the national holiday, the tour group at the winery was small and in English. After enjoying the lovely scenery and winery buildings we had an excellent wine tasting lunch. There are two set menus to choose from, so my husband and I each had a different one - we tasted and drank everything that way. The wines were excellent and the food was delicious and interesting. This was one of the best experience we had during our cruise. Easy to arrange directly with the winery and very smoothly run. Excellent experience - we highly recommend! Thy explained that if you pay at the winery by credit card you are not charged the tax, therefore don't pay in cash.

The Bouza Bodega is worth a trip for either a wine tasting or a paired wine lunch. It was about 30 minutes away from our hotel in Montevideo. The boutique was easy to find after we discovered all the antique cars which immediately got our attention. The boutique is off to the left as you enter.

We had a lovely time at Bodega Bouza. They picked us up on time at our hotel. The tour guide Pedro was both knowledgeable and entertaining. The location is really beautiful with the vineyard, ponds, many birds and animals. We had the wine tasting with tapas, the restaurant was already full when we booked the tour. Wine and tapas were delicious. The only thing is the tasting takes as long as the 5 courses lunch, because we have to wait for everybody to go back to the hotel. But they are very generous with the wine :)

Visited this gorgeous winery on a sunny day whilst our ship was in port. Had emailed their website and transport and tasting was easily arranged . They do morning and afternoon tours. Met the driver Ricardo at the Radisson Montevideo for pickup at 1220- much easier to find landmark off Plaza Independencia- meant that we could walk through the beautiful old town of Montevideo first. Small minivan transport, takes around 20 minutes to get to the winery. We were the only English speaking people on this tour, though Ricardo effortlessly switched between English and Portuguese for the Brazilian couples with us. Were met by a very entertaining and knowledgeable guide called Pedro who took the group on a tour of the winery, vineyard and cellar . Again effortlessly catered to the three main languages. It’s obvious he loves his job and is great at it . Bouza is a family run boutique winery and the scenery and facilities are gorgeous. You can choose between tasting only or paired with 5 course lunch . We chose the tasting, but followed this with lunch from the a la carte menu ( fantastic). This was more than adequate as you received a small tapas to accompany each of the 4 wines . Wow the Albariño and Tannat were stand outs, and each pour was a standard drink, rather than a small tasting pour😊. The restaurant staff were informed and friendly and we enjoyed every minute of our time there. They actually advised we paid by credit card so as to avoid tax, so you could do this whole outing without the need to withdraw Uruguay pesos. Ricardo then dropped us back by 1700 at the cruise terminal . This is a must do - a wonderful day out with quality food and wine in an exquisite setting. Amazing value for money - less than aud $100 each all up for the transport, tour, tasting and lunch. Top shelf Tannat around $40 bottle . Hola and muchas gracias from the Australian senoras.
