One of the many spectacular view points in the Machu Picchu experience. I recommend that you get a good guide to explain it all to you and walk you through this enormous site with a complicated history.

Taking the shape of Putucusi mountain that sits directly behind it this gigantic rock is recognized as a spiritual area for absorbing positive energy. The rock is roped off to deter people from touching it now.

This will be part of your tour of Machu Picchu and hopefully your guide will explain the significance. You really must have a guide; it's not as rich of an experience without one.

This carved rock was created as a direct replica to the mountain behind it, visible on a clear day. The work is exceptional, smooth and balanced.

See photo. Guide took us to this a Sacred Rock. The sun, a llama and a man. Nice petroglyph. About a 5 minute walk from Aquas Calientes.

This rock at Macchu Pichu was made famous by Hiram Bingham, who had his picture taken in front of it back around 1911.

This flattened rock served to be the site of animal and occasional human sacrifice by the Incas. Despite its gruesome history, it is incredibly intriguing.

This is a huge rock placed in the open plaza - it sits upon a flat stone altar and was used to present offerings to the gods. What is really impressive is its size.
