The temple and the stone it contains should be unremarkable if it wouldn't be because the amazing astronomical facts you could interpret just by the sunlight hitting the stone, from the three Norths to a big combination of agricultural facts

Intihuatana Stone is located on top of Machu Picchu Temple and a great heritage from Inca's time. It is an astronomical clock and calendar that were used in 15th century and shows how that civilisation was ahead of their time. As you need to climb...More

This is a giant stone at one of the higher peaks within the Machu Picchu site. If you have a guide you'll get more from this place and understand how the stone relates to the position of the sun, and how each corner is compass-like...More

Don't miss this if you walk around machu picchu. The stone is aligned with magnetic compass points. This is totally unnecessary and unrelated to primitive agriculture which is the traditional story. Any farmer can see where the sun rises and sets so why would you...More

This was a very interesting landmark in Machupicchu. It was pretty amazing to see how the Inkas used this stone device to determine time and seasons. Watch out this area is tight and some may find it difficult to take a photograph.
