The Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI holds the most representative art...

The Museo de Arte de Lima - MALI holds the most representative art collection in Peru, tracing 3,000 years of history from the earliest Andean civilizations until modern times. Known as the Palacio de la Exposición, the building that is now home to the museum is located at the entrance to the Lima's historic center and is one of the earliest and most important works built using the new technique of cast-iron construction. On the second floor you will find 34 recently renewed galleries with a selection of the most important works of our collection. MALI has an active program of temporary exhibitions throughout the year which covers the highlights of local and international art. The temporary exhibition galleries, as well as the Café MALI, store, auditorium, library and education area, are located on the first floor. ***Free admission every Thursday from 3:00 P.M.***

If you have several days in Lima, plan to devote at least half a day to visiting the Museo Larco Av. Bolivar 1515, Pueblo Libre, Lima 21. The Inka culture that built Cusco was relatively short lived and developed out of complex and highly sophisticated pre-Inka cultures, as illustrated by the magnificent Larco collection. The Museum building itself is beautiful and... We spent about 2 hours in the museum and we could have stayed much more to thoroughly study the vast collection of works of art, representative of pre-Incas civilizations as well as colonial art and paintings of the recent history of Peru. There is an audio guide app that you can download on the spot,as the museum has open wifi.

I have been going to the museum since I was a child, before it was renovated...it is a breathless collection of all periods of Peruvian art and absolutely worth a visit.

Very impressed with how well the exhibitions in this museum are curated. The English blurbs alongside the artworks are very well written. I learnt a lot about how Lima society shaped the art style of the time and vice versa. The security guards are extremely helpful and will point you in the right direction as it is a bit of... More

A museum with a big variety. Old Peruvian pottery from centuries ago, paintings from the colonial era, pictures and drawings from the previous century and also modern art. Some furniture is also available to gaze upon. Artistic Peru in a nutshell. Browse the collection for just a few hours or stay longer for a more in-depth excavation. The building is... More

The MALI is located in the same park of the more famous Museo Metropolitano de Lima. However, upon arriving there we were told that de Metropolitano has been closed for over an year, so we gave MALI a try. The MALI supposedly is focused on contemporary art but there was a big historical and archaeological exhibition there, so I assume... More

This is a wonderful museum, well curated and full of interesting art as well as some pottery and photography exhibits. It is definitely worth a visit when in Lima but it is expensive at 30PSN. There are days when it is cheaper in the afternoons so check before hand.

This is definitely the best put together of the museums that I have seen in Lima. The second floor exhibits gave a nice overview of the visual arts of Peru, and all of the information was also translated into English. The building itself is also magnificent. Getting in costs 30 soles- a steep price compared to most museums. Locals get... More

The building in particular the courtyard was impressive. Collection was mainly artefacts of ancient period and paintings of peruvian artists. Worth a visit but will be much better if additional work such as temporary exhibits can be more interesting.
