- Scott GLos Angeles, California486 contributionsMy favorite part of Lima, but still not terribly uniqueI live in Los Angeles and love the beach, so I figured Miraflores would be my favorite area of Lima and I was right. It's pretty, but still very commercial. My favorite area was the park with the giant statue of the lovers. Nice views. And our guide said we were lucky to have a nice sunny day in early September, it was a beautiful day. As far as beach areas in general go though, it felt pretty middle of the road. To compare it to California beach areas, it's definitely got a more commercial Santa Monica skyscraper and mall vibe rather than a more rustic and natural Malibu vibe. So, as a self professed beach snob, I would rate it about 7 out of 10. In my opinion though it's leaps and bounds prettier than the bulk of Lima, which I didn't really care for. One odd thing to note: you can't actually get down to the beach in Miraflores, you're on cliffs above it. You have to walk along the cliff edge to another district to get down to the beach, which I did, walking on a small path right beside a major freeway. Took 15-20 minutes. Kinda weird. But a pretty area and definitely worth a visit! Be sure to check out the park with the giant lovers statue.Visited September 2022Written 14 January 2023

The advertised protests were not evident, basically you would have to hunt to see one . Lina area is huge and the people here are living as they normally would.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 February 2023
- pipsssNottingham, United Kingdom21 contributionsExceptional experienceLovely area, very nice park with a statue of Paddington waving goodbye to Lima. There is a lovely young girl selling souvenirs, she zips about everywhere, please say hello to her and you will get a beautiful smile in return. The park is exceptionally clean and the shops underneath are very smart. The Peruvian people are really warm and welcoming, the craft market is amazing, so colourful and the prices are very reasonable. It’s was a dream come true visiting Lima and it didn’t disappoint in the slightest, a magical city to visit.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 April 2023
- Sandy T14 contributionsGreat safe cityAs a solo 50 yr old female, I stayed at a beautiful airbnb with ocean view. Very safe city. Limited shopping but beautiful mall on a cliff..with several restaurants. An interesting restaurant is out on a long dock in the ocean. Beach is harder to reach & is not sand but pebbles. Long boardwalk beautiful views. Very family oriented city. Beautiful park with ocean view. Felt safe in taxi's..in the city. Miraflores is a vacation destination for Peruvians. Very few people..even in restaurants, markers etc..speak English.. May be more at a hotel that caters to tourist from other countries. But if you use Google translate on your phone..you'll be fine.Visited May 2022Travelled soloWritten 10 April 2023
- Ben FBloomington, Indiana1,470 contributionsThe Best ViewsThere’s a valid reason why Miraflores is such a famous district of the city. So much to see and do here…I barely scratched the surface on my trip. Stroll around the countless parks, check out Larcomar, cross over to the beaches…so beautiful. The views are one-of-a-kind. Without Miraflores, I don’t think Lima would flourish as a destination like it does now.Visited June 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 July 2023
- MrThomas1981Ipswich, United Kingdom776 contributionsNice neighbourhood - loads to doMiraflores is a lovely smart neighbourhood with a huge clifftop park which is popular with locals and tourists and is very 'westernised'. Lots of opportunities to stop for coffee/food/ice cream and lots of activities to do as well. The beach is rocky and right next to a very busy road so not particularly quiet or relaxing. Views are lovely and from the clifftop and there are shops and restaurants inland if you need close by.Visited April 2023Written 26 July 2023

Access to walk along cliffs along the ocean front. There is a nice restaurant/bar there where their windows overlook the Pacific. One night; Peru was playing Chile in soccer. The entire park area was closed down, huge screens were erected and the soccer fans filled the streets. Great experience.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 23 September 2023

Does anyone have advice on which part of Miraflores is best to live in? I’ll be moving there in June and am wondering if it’s better to be near John F. Kennedy Park, which seems very bustling, or if it’s better to be out a bit. I like having restaurants, cafes, gyms etc. in walking distance, but I also like the idea of being near the water and a green area. My budget is $1100.

The area around Parque Kennedy is indeed "bustling" (if that is what you're looking for), but it's a little too commercial and traffic-bound for my tastes. I agree that Miraflores is the most inviting of residential areas, but I would look a little further south in the triangle that forms the core of Miraflores. The area below San Martin to the ocean and between Malecon Balta (on the west) and Avenida La Paz (on the east) is especially nice. Don't know the cost, but it sure looks expensive. Good luck!
