We love staying in Miraflores. Wherever you are there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Good for couple as well as families. Very safe.

Very commercial and touristy. Feels fairly safe. Has a wide range of accomodation and restaurants. I got an en-suite double bedroom with tv and breakfast for 80 soles at Friends House.

A touristy district with lots of shops and eats. Leave Miraflores area to experience some other aspects of the Peruvian culture.

We stayed in the miraflores district prior to embarking on s 22 day cruise of South America. Beautiful, clean, safe and inviting. Right on the water, dancing in city parks, brightly lit at night and just a total pleasure. Visit my travel blog Travelover50.info

Lovely neighborhood in a sea of chaos. Do it!
I am planning on traveling to Lima and Cusco in late May. We are concerned about the condition of both Lima and Cusco in light of the recent rains and floods. Indeed our hotel has also told us of water shortages, etc. What I am MOST concerned about are tour operators that insist that everything is fine, you go, and then they pull a switch of the cities you will be visiting, tell you its impossible to get to Machu Pichu for whatever reason and hand you a couple of complimentary waters. Has anyone gone to Lima and Cusco in the very recent past and managed a successful trip in seeing Lima, Cusco and Machu Pichu?

The JW Marriott is lovely. Not sure they have a bar on an upper level though. Maybe just take a stroll along the water. Should be fun!!
