We had the unique opportunity to visit this beautiful hacienda where they breed the Peruvian Paso horses, which are beautiful on their own, but there was a whole demonstration on the process of how they’re bred, plus a delightful show of a marinera dancer dancing and flirting with a rider on horseback. Then a tasty lunch was served. It so happens the folks who own the hacienda are also the owners of La Rosa Náutica restaurant in the Miraflores neighborhood of Lima.

I am Peruvian myself living abroad, so I knee about these beautiful animals. We visited this place together with family members living around the world and all of us could not enjoy it more. Very interesting and personalized introduction to the Peruvian Paso Horse and its history, topped with a very nice show and the opportunity to ride these great horses. Nice location, although the way to it don’t show precisely the best part of Lima. Heavy traffic and kind of ugly surroundings (did not seem dangerous though). Lunch can be improved and the transportation van sent to pick us up could be definitely better.

I visited there Dec.19. It was located 1 hours away from miraflores. itis ok. but what is not ok is the service and they didn't respect the program itinerary. we we went on time. however must Wait others. they were running late about 25 min. so the horse show was short as a result. then the waiters they are worried about tips than offer a better service to local guys. so they was paying more attention to forenners than locals. the food was delicious but terrible service all of them was sad...!

We recently spent an afternoon at the Hacienda, getting to learn about the Peruvian Paso horse. The grounds are beautiful, and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The best of course was the horses. They have a wonderful friendly temperament and are so beautiful. We watched a show highlighting the steps taken to train the horses and then were give the opportunity to ride. It was an amazing experience. The nicest riding horse I have ever been on. Then, we were given a delicious lunch before being driven back to our hotel. It was a day to be remembered and one of the highlights of our visit to Peru. If you love horses you will love Los Ficus Casa Hacienda.

Among the many delights of visiting Lima, Los Ficus will rank at the top for us. We booked a tour through Lima Vision, whose bus picked us up at our hotel in Miraflores; from there it was a very interesting hour's drive out to the Hacienda. At first, we weren't sure what we were in for, because we were the only two visitors for the day -- it was off-season -- but our guide on the bus made us feel most welcome and gave us an informative narration as we traveled out along the ocean and then through urban/suburban neighborhoods.
When we arrived we were met by Romina, a young woman who speaks excellent English (among some other languages, I'd guess) and who really knows her horses. She, the horsemen, and the rest of the staff treated the two of us as though we were one of the groups of thirty or so who visit at other times of the year -- by which I mean that they went all-out to make sure we had an enjoyable half-day's visit. We began with a walking tour of the grounds, visiting the horses in their pens and seeing a couple of very young foals. Then, the demonstration of the Peruvian Step Horses -- beautiful animals with a very unusual pacing gait, realized partly through 3-4 years' training but also, by now, bred into them. Different stages of the training were demonstrated, and then the fully-trained horses went through their paces (literally as well as figuratively) with five skillful riders. They also performed a traditional dance number with a talented young woman, and then (maybe because there were just two of us) gave us a chance to ride one of the horses around a big circle. That was *fun*, and also showed us just how smooth the horses' gait was for the riders. All of this was accompanied by music, snacks, and pisco sours -- what's not to like?
We then adjourned for lunch with the staff -- herbed chicken, potatoes, and other delights, all produced on the hacienda and offered with wine and other drinks. The pace was slow and relaxed, and we had a chance to chat informally with Romina and the others about the horses, the history of the place, and the like. After a time we said our good-byes and enjoyed a somewhat quicker drive back to Miraflores.
On the drive out and back you'll see variety of neighborhoods, some (though not all) of them distressingly poor. The contrast with the hacienda, and with Miraflores, can't be denied or ignored. But that in a way is part of the value of the day trip -- getting out of the city, getting a more varied view of the Lima region, and then of course enjoying the hospitality, food and horses at Los Ficus. We found the whole day memorable, and would recommend it to anyone.

We spent a few hours on Hacienda Los Ficus on a presentation of Peruvian horse breed and nice lunch served outdoors on this beautiful hacienda. There was a small group of participants (our family of 3 persons and just one more couple) so it was a very direct and private show. We had a chance to better understand the origin of the breed, the purpose of the development and current status of those interesting animals. Finally, we also had a chance to have a short ride on their back.
Interesting and relaxing experience.

We were booking the lunch and horse show and more by ourselves. But if you book with Lima Tours it only cost $10 more and it included the car and driver. They sent a car for us and we drove about an hour to the country learning a lot about Lima and the environs we were passing from our driver. When we arrived at the hacienda we were greeted by their guide, a beautiful young woman who spoke clear English. We toured the hacienda grounds and started learning about the Paso Fino horses. Then a beautiful show was put on for us 5 tourists. A woman came out and danced with the horse and rider, something that was done in No. Peru. We also got a chance to mount the horses and be led around on the lawn. This was a super special day, you should go. FYI the people who own this gorgeous finca also own Rosa Nautica. The salad we had at the hacienda was grown there and they also use what they grow at the Rosa Nautica.

My trip to Lima started with a visit to this wonderful ranch ( Hacienda as they call in local Peru). Though, I had some initial inhibitions in going to such place, but I was delightfully impressed with the place. Beautiful settings and very nice kitchen garden they had, from where they use most of the vegetables, used at Ranch, which they say are grown without use of any insecticides and pesticides. They had good collection of horses (about 30 of them). The visit started with the tour of Hacienda, followed by Horse show, which was for about 20 minutes, we were served with Pisco sour (the local Peruvian alcoholic drink),juices and soft drinks etc. followed with a very delicious lunch set up at very nice, cool and pleasant settings. The food and ambience was outstanding, all dishes were cooked at the ranch in local flavors, using vegetables and animals available at the ranch itself, it was simple food but wonderfully delicious. The helping were generous. Our guide and driver was also offered food there, the same which was served to us, which shows the magnanimity of the management. The deserts were also very nice. The staff was very cordial, warm and helpful. My two hour stay at this Hacienda, was completely worth the time, money and efforts we had spent.

Our plan was to see the horse show at La Mamacona Hacienda which has a good reputation. Due to schedule we chose to go to Los Ficus Hacienda and it was excellent. We booked it through the VIP Tour company for $95 per person, they provided transportation with pick up at the hotel and it took us about one hour to get to the the hacienda in Lurin. It is a very colorful place with trees, flowers and other plants. Very well kept and organized. A hostess that speaks English well gave us the tour. They have 30 horses and you get to meet most of them. The actual show was excellent and after wards you get to ride the horses. It was a buffet lunch and it was just right including pisco sour and wine. I would go back to this place, it is just right for Paso Fino horses.

After enjoying 10 days of touring throughout Peru, this was an wonderful addition to a trip filled with Incan history and Peruvian Culture. This is a first-class working hacienda. Our visit included an introduction to training these unique horses; then a great demonstration of their capabilities followed by an opportunity to enjoy a short ride on a horse; culminating in a very nice buffet luncheon. We would recommend this experience
