Very very crowded, even in the "off" season. The various palaces surrounding the square are remarkable for their beauty and elegance. Lots of peddlers peddling cheap souvenirs, and they are persistent! Since many of them are children, a little kindness is in order here. It...More

We took a free walking tour with Alejandro. He provided us with lots of information and it was excellent. Also arrived at noon to watch the changing of the guard. Quite enjoyable

A must see if you are in Lima. It's a tourist place with everything that belongs to it. If you pass around the presidential palace and keep on going, you'll enter the non-tourist part. Not sure if to recommend this. I like exploring such places...More

Not the quaintest "historical quarter" that I've ever visited, but it does (obviously) contain much of Spanish colonial historical interest. Many of the key buildings are here, and it's easy to walk around. Plenty of hawkers & street vendors.

Everything is clean and well organised/signposted. Many pedestrian areas and you can see everything on foot, the churches, Cathedral, Basilica, museums, palaces and squares. On a sunny day it’s a beautiful experience. Make sure to get a map, wear comfy shoes and spend the day...More

Historic LIMA starting at the PLAZA de ARMAS takes you several centuries back, when the Kings City ( Ciudad de los Reyes ) was center to the Spanish Rulers in America. Stretching from Nicaragua to Argentina... the first catholic cathedral, the first cemetery, countless palaces...More

Not bad, but I (and apparently my travel companions) expected more. Lima was the capital of the Spanish Bi kingdom and one expects more majesty. Not quite it.

We toured this area on a Sunday. It was packed with mostly Peruvians from all over the country. Some were celebrating in parade style and dancing their particular regional dances in full vibrant costume. Others were part of an ongoing religious procession completed with flags,...More

I suppose if you are in Lima you automatically come down to this area. Since it's foggy and chili in the winter and sometimes raining it's a good place to visit because there are lots of museums and churches. You can also see The Changing...More
