We did a 4 day cruise on the Amazon River in La Perla. The accommodations were great, the crew amazing and the food outstanding and plentiful. The naturalists, Daniel and Robinson, did an excellent job as did the cruise director Tania, the bar tender Charles and Milton, the head in the dining room. They were all knowledgeable and very attentive.

Staff was amazing, they took care of every detail .Jorge the cruise manager does an exceptional job making sure your experience is perfect . Guides are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share their expertise with you . They make the Amazon experience unforgettable . Bar staff are fun and experienced. Food was amazing - we have been on many cruises with different luxury lines and the food prepared on the Delfin III was the best by far . Tip - book the Owners Suite, the views from the cabin are memorable .
This is a luxury curated experience but the best way to really feel the culture of the Amazon.

We cruised a week in April of 2023, a group of 20 family members. The entire experience was absolutely top-notch, right from the time we first booked the staff were reaching out to help us with packing, flights, answering questions and sorting out the coordination of cabins, arrivals and meals for the group of us arriving from 5+ locations across North America. Once on the boat, the attention to detail and the service were like nothing we’ve ever seen before - staff instantly appeared whenever you needed them, without being intrusive. Meals were spectacular, with a combination of local fare (with cooking demonstrations, and full descriptions of everything we ate) and some comfort foods - which were always available, if anyone (ie kids) wasn’t feeling adventurous to try the local paiche (a 500lb river dwelling fish). Overall, I would recommend this trip to anyone - there was a perfect mix of activity and down time to fully engage, or relax, as one sees fit.

I have been already a week back and I am trying to find a word to describe the experience. The word is Wondrous. This was an incredible week of great food, entertainment and amazing scenery. We decided to venture for the first time during the high water season. As I wanted the ability to go deeper in the tributaries, but I feel there are better chance to encounter more wildlife in the low water season.

I want to split my review in 3 parts. 1) The boat, 2) The food and 3) The tours and wildlife.

Boat. I went before on a Nile cruise in what was supposed to be a boutique cruise and it was pretty disappointing. When I arrived in ArianI could not believe my eyes. The bait is gorgeous, clean, smell fantastic. When shown my room, the size, amenities and comfort were beyond words. It is fantastic. The bars area is super relaxing and so are the outside areas.

Food

Get ready to gain weight but not like a Caribbean cruise. This is fine sinning at the highest level of preparation. The food is amazing and prepared exquisitely with local ingredients. The Aria group let’s you taste all the local gifts of the area elevated at a fine dining level. It was just amazing.

Tours

Every day you will go by skiff and they will. Take you to amazing areas. The jingles are not for everyone mosquitoes, insect and tarantulas. But you will be exposed to areas that very few will ever experience. Wildlife. Howler monkeys, spider monkeys, tamarin, marmoset, capuchins, pink dolphin , gray dolphins and tons of sloths. We never saw the wild manatee, jaguar ir capibara but they are most likely in the low water.

This boat is expensive but it was worth it. I love the experience and it was imply amazing. As far as the insect they don’t bother me but we went easy. We used head mesh and it was not that bad. Highly recommend them.

My sister and I recently returned from a three-day cruise, January 6 through January 9, on the Aqua Nera. We were booked on the Aria Amazon, but were switched for the convenience of the company to the alternate boat, due to low bookings.

At booking, we were advised of the acceptable Iquitos flight timetables to facilitate transport to and from the boat. Our itinerary detailed this would allow us to arrive at the boat in time for an excursion prior to dinner. My sister and I arrived into the Iquitos airport within the specified timeframe. Despite this, we had to wait around for another guest to arrive outside of the specified timeframe.
We arrived late to the Aqua Nera and did not receive the promised afternoon excursion after arriving to the boat. Neither did we receive the safety instructions until the following day.

We were then informed the boat would stay at the industrial pier of Nauta for the night, as more guests were arriving the following day. We booked a three-night cruise on the Amazon, missed our first excursion, and were not actually cruising the Amazon as described by the itinerary but staying at an industrial location for the convenience of the company.

Once finally underway, the cruise itself seemed somewhat disjointed, with disparate groups on board due to the combining of groups onto one boat for the convenience of the company. The excursion schedule was not followed and we missed specific items on the itinerary, including the village visit, fresh market, and San Juan craft market.

We had a final upsetting experience on our return trip to the Iquitos airport. We made a scheduled stop at the Manatee rescue center for a tour of the facilities. We were told by our guide to leave everything on the bus, as he and the driver would stay with the bus and watch our belongings. When we returned to the bus after the tour, my sister and I noted both our bags had been rifled through, and she had cash stolen.

I would not recommend this company.

My husband and I were travelling to Iquitos for 1 week Amazon river cruise and jungle experience in July 2022. We bought this tour from “G Adventure” Canadian travel agency. Before buying this tour we were informed by them that all we need is to be triple vaccinated, that is what we have. To our great surprise, when already in Iquitos, we were informed that we must do Covid test. We asked tour guide and local nurse ( just in case of positive test, how many days is the quarantine?) and got answer 3 days. We figure out that in worse case scenario we still have some time to explore Amazon and jungles. We decided to take a risk but to our misfortune test came positive. And right after that there was a different tone, different language and we were informed that quarantine is 7 days. We spent 7 days of quarantine without symptoms at our own expense in the local hotel and just gone back home to Toronto after. That was our Amazon experience. Should we have known about extra tests before, we would never buy this tour, G Adventure failed to provide adequate information which resulted in our financial losses and ruined vacation.

Every expectation was met. This is a world class operation with outstanding staff, guides, cuisine and pace. While we saw plenty of wildlife it is good to lower your expectations. It is a huge jungle with thousands of species. You cannot see them all. But every minute of the boat was pure pleasure and delight.

We've traveled and cruised extensively so we think it is quite significant for us to say that this cruise was one of the best if not the best cruising experience we’ve ever had. The daily expeditions with our knowledgeable guides Alex, Julio, Marcos, and Billy, were a true immersion into the rainforest. The skiff would meander around the jungle looking and finding sloths, monkeys, snakes, macaus, tucans, tarantulas, and more and more animals and they would work hard to get you the best view from every possible angle. After these amazing expeditions, all you had to look forward to was returning to the boat to sit down to some of the best meals I have ever had. Every single dish was exquisite. From breakfast to lunch to dinner to every snack. The food was absolutely amazing. The service was impeccable. The wait staff, Harvey, Marinho, Carlos, accompanied by the world’s greatest bartender Robinson, were attentive to every single detail at all times. Finally this was all being coordinated by our cruise directors Jhuliana and Fiorella who were incredibly welcoming. You might notice I remember all the staff names and that’s because they all remembered ours. Everywhere we went we were greeted by our names. My favorite was having breakfast and lunch out on the river. When we were told our meals were to be served on the river, I imagined being handed a brown bag w muffin inside. Nope. We were served a full mean with glassware and silverware and mixed drinks and fruits and delicious dessert. None of us know what heaven is really like but I sure hope it includes a recurring cruise on the Agua Nera. 8 days and 7 nights of pure bliss and excitement. The boat was beyond beautiful and the room exceeds the expectations from the online photos. Oh and we booked it with Totally Latin America, a local travel agency and small business run by Jason and Paul who also totally exceeded our expectations and planned our entire vacation which included both the Aqua Nera cruise as well as a trip to Macchu Picchu. I would highly recommended using a local travel agency for trips to Latin America not only to support their local economy but also because they have intimate knowledge of the areas and towns and really take your safety into account.

Where is the wildlife? If you want a strictly tourist venue.... go here. NO reprieve from the absolutely drenching humidity or tse tse flies. Guides are over worked and tired which leads to unenthusiasm. Stay away... extremely disappointed.
