we recently returned from journey into the high Andes and along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. sacred valley - Cusco has the history, the excitement, the food and the cultural attractions; the Sacred Valley helped immerse us in the Inca culture and exposed us to fabulous ruins, the Inca Trail was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that was both challenging and... I have hiked all over the world and this was one of my favorites! I enjoyed the combination of the physical challenge and the historical aspect. Each day of the hike the scenery was breaktaking.

It's was tough but amazing. First day was an easy hike around 4 hrs overall. 2d and 3rd days are a completely different stories. A bit more challenging and demending. The altitude makes a big difference here. Views were amazing throughout the hike. Camp sites were nice too. As we just finished our trek on the last day available (it's... More

It's hard to put the views into words. The engineering that went into building and maintaining these roads and architectural makes my head spin. The altitude WILL kick your behind. Tread slowly and clean up after yourself. There's nothing more disrespectful than trashing another country's beautiful sites. This trail is worth every hard breath and slow step.

Hiked the 4 day 3 night classic Inca Trail hike and loved every minute of it! We used Alpaca Expeditions as our guides and they were great. This was really the highlight of our trip and highly recommend doing this if you are up to it.

I would call myself a senior in fairly good condition...the Inca Trail was much more strenuous than expected and there was always a time issue...I think it would've been more comfortable for many if it was stretched out a bit longer,,,and maybe categorize your groups....by age, physical fitness etc., the banos were awful... other than that truly amazing, views, scenery... Lives up to the al lthe hype. I recomend Alpaca Expeditions, they were AWESOME. The experience of a lifetime and you made it possible. I know I may sound repetitive but all good comments about you are correct and that shows consistency. We have just done the 4 day Inca Trail trek with Lima Tours (21 - 24 Jan). We were collected from our hotel in Cusco and driven out to the start of the trek & from there trekked over the Andes (max. Height reached 4200m) to the ancient Machu Picchu site. This is a challenging hike & you need to... More

We started planning this trip with Machu Picchu as the main highlight, but did the last day of the Inca Trail on the way. The scenery and experience of this day became the highlight. It wasn't too strenuous!
